Our Connection to the Infinite Creator

Across the Law of One and many ancient traditions, we repeatedly find the same essential teaching:

Within every human being is an eternal presence—a spark of the Infinite—temporarily expressing itself through a physical body and an individual personality.

The traditions use different names: soul, spirit, divine spark, inner light, Atman, Buddha-nature, breath of life, consciousness, or the indwelling Creator. The names differ, but the central idea is remarkably similar.

The Law of One: We do not merely contain the Creator

The Law of One goes further than saying that God placed a separate soul inside us. Ra teaches that every being is an individualized expression of the One Infinite Creator.

Ra summarizes the Law of One by saying that all things are one and that this unity is “love/light, light/love, the Infinite Creator.”

In this understanding, the spiritual spark is not a tiny object hidden somewhere inside the body. It is the deepest level of our identity.

We might say:

• The body is the temporary vehicle.
• The personality is the identity we develop during an incarnation.
• The mind interprets experience.
• The spirit is the pathway connecting the individual consciousness with Intelligent Infinity.
• The Creator is the ultimate source from which all these arise.

Ra calls the human being a mind/body/spirit complex. The spirit portion serves as a kind of shuttle or channel between individualized consciousness and Intelligent Infinity—the limitless consciousness of the Creator.

Therefore, the “spark” within us is not separate from the Infinite. It is the Infinite experiencing life from one particular point of view. Bill Donahue explains in  this short Video.

Intelligent Infinity and intelligent energy

• The Infinite Creator is like the sun.
• Each soul is like a ray of sunlight.
• The ray appears individual, but it never becomes separate from the sun.
• The purpose of spiritual awakening is not to manufacture light, but to recognize the light already present.

This resembles your thought that we are energy and frequency. However, an important distinction should be made: in spiritual teachings, words such as energy, vibration and frequency are often metaphysical descriptions of consciousness, harmony and states of being. They are not necessarily measurable electromagnetic frequencies in the scientific sense.

The Upanishads: The light within humanity

This is often expressed as:

Tat Tvam Asi — Thou art That.

In other words, your deepest self is of the same ultimate reality as the Source of existence.

This is extremely close to the Law of One teaching that each being is the Creator discovering and experiencing itself.

The Gospel of Thomas: The light within

The Gospel of Thomas preserves a teaching attributed to Jesus:

“There is light within a person of light, and it shines on the whole world.”

This “light” can be understood as awakened divine consciousness. When it is recognized and expressed, it illuminates one’s life and affects the world. When it remains hidden beneath fear, ignorance and ego, life appears dark.

The Gospel of Thomas also repeatedly points toward becoming one, overcoming inner division and discovering the kingdom within.

From a mystical Christian perspective, Christ is not merely an external personality to worship. Christ may also represent the awakened divine consciousness—the Christ within—that becomes visible when the human personality aligns itself with love, truth and the Divine.

Traditional Christianity usually maintains a clearer distinction between Creator and creature, but Christian mystics have often spoken of an indwelling divine presence, the image of God, the Holy Spirit and the “inner light.”

Genesis: The breath of life

Genesis says that God formed the human from the dust of the ground and breathed into the human the breath of life.

Metaphysically, the dust represents the physical elements of the body. The divine breath represents the life-giving consciousness that animates matter.

The body comes from Earth, but the breath comes from God.

This does not necessarily mean that God placed a miniature object called a soul inside the body. It can mean that life itself is continuously sustained by the presence of the Divine.

The Hebrew word ruach can mean breath, wind or spirit. Similar connections appear in other traditions:

• Prana in Indian traditions
• Qi or chi in Chinese traditions
• Pneuma in Greek thought
• Spiritus in Latin

All connect life, breath, movement and spirit.

Ancient Egypt: The many dimensions of the person

Ancient Egyptian spirituality did not describe the person as simply a body plus one soul. It recognized several aspects of being, including the ka, ba, akh, heart and name.

The ka was associated with life-force or vital essence.
The ba represented the individual personality or mobile soul.
The akh represented a transformed or luminous spiritual being.

Although these concepts do not perfectly match the Law of One, they reflect the belief that the physical body is only one layer of human existence and that consciousness can continue beyond physical death.

The image of the luminous akh is especially close to the idea of the soul becoming consciously radiant.

Buddhism: The light without a permanent ego

Buddhism approaches the subject differently. It generally rejects the idea of an unchanging, separate personal soul. This is the teaching of anatta, or non-self.

But Buddhism does not teach that humans are spiritually empty or meaningless. It teaches that what we call the self is a changing combination of conditions rather than a permanent, isolated entity.

Some Buddhist traditions speak of:

• Buddha-nature

• the luminous mind

• awakened awareness

• the clear light of consciousness

The important distinction is that this luminous awareness is not “my private eternal ego.” It is discovered as attachment to the constructed ego falls away.

This actually complements the Law of One in an interesting way. The Law of One says the separate self is ultimately an illusion because all beings are expressions of one consciousness. Buddhism says the isolated, permanent ego cannot be found.

Both challenge the belief that we are merely separate personalities competing for survival.

Taoism: Returning to the Source

These traditions generally suggest that the divine light is never truly destroyed. It can, however, be concealed by:

• fear
• trauma
• conditioning
• selfishness
• resentment
• attachment
• rigid beliefs
• the illusion of separation

The purpose of spiritual practice is not to persuade the Creator to give us a soul. It is to remove the barriers that prevent the soul’s qualities from being expressed.

Meditation, prayer, contemplation, forgiveness and service do not create the inner light. They clear the window through which it shines.

Our frequency as a state of consciousness

When spiritual teachers speak of raising our vibration, the most useful interpretation is not that we must attain a particular number of hertz. It means changing the quality and organization of consciousness.

A consciousness dominated by fear, control, jealousy and hatred is contracted and disharmonious.

A consciousness expressing compassion, gratitude, truth, forgiveness and service is more coherent, open and unified.

In the Law of One, this transformation is represented through the energy centers:

• Red ray: survival and incarnation
• Orange ray: personal identity and relationships
• Yellow ray: society, power and group identity
• Green ray: unconditional love and compassion
• Blue ray: honest communication and wisdom
• Indigo ray: spiritual realization and contact with Intelligent Infinity
• Violet ray: the total expression or signature of the being

The goal is not to reject the lower centers. They must be accepted, balanced and integrated so that the Creator’s energy can flow through the whole person.

The common message

We are the Divine Spark temporarily experiencing itself as a human being.

We are not physical beings struggling to become spiritual. We are spiritual consciousness learning through physical experience.

The personality is temporary.
The body is temporary.
Our roles and possessions are temporary.
But the light from which consciousness arises belongs to the Infinite.

Spiritual awakening is the gradual remembrance that the light within you, the light within another person and the light behind the entire universe are not three different lights.

They are one light appearing through countless windows.
