First accept yourself, love yourself and know that your are okay as you are. Spiritual growth is like a child, always looking, seeking to learn more. Inner peace will come when you discover your true self, and you no longer fear anything, including death.
How we achieve inner peace will be up to each person. Meditation can be the gateway to this discovery as well as contemplation and prayer. When praying, consider instead of asking for something, believe you already have it. As an example, we need rain. Instead of asking for rain, imagine it raining, you feel it, smell it all around you.
Inner peace will come when you are ready, and then you will always be okay with yourself.
