Secret societies; Hydrogen Peroxide Helps Kill Cancer

“The very word ‘secrecy’ is repugnant in a free and open society; and we are as a people inherently and historically opposed to secret societies, to secret oaths and to secret proceedings.”
– John F. Kennedy, April 27, 1961
Long before the fiction writer Dan Brown arrived on the literary scene with his stories of esoterica, people have been intrigued with the idea of secret societies working in the shadows, carrying out evil plots against them. On this score, it would be hard to beat the Freemasons.
Here is a group of characters that has piqued the imaginations of men throughout the centuries. Back in 1798, John Robison, a professor of Natural Philosophy, and Secretary to the Royal Society of Edinburgh, published a book that made a big splash throughout Europe. The publication carried the lengthy title, ‘Proofs of a Conspiracy against All the Religions and Governments of Europe, Carried on in the Secret Meetings of Freemasons, Illuminati and Reading Societies.’ Had John Robison attempted to publish such a book in our day, he would have been quickly written off as a conspiracy theorist nut job along the lines of Alex Jones. But in 1798, the book was taken quite seriously.
Robison, himself a Mason, attempted to prove that not only the French Revolution, but many other historic events of the day were the result of this secret fraternity’s machinations.
“I have seen this Association exerting itself zealously and systematically, till it has become almost irresistible: And I have seen that the most active leaders in the French Revolution were members of this Association, and conducted their first movements according to its principles, and by means of its instructions and assistance, the formerly requested and obtained. And lastly, I have seen that this Association still exists, still works in secret, and that not only several appearances among ourselves show that its emissaries are endeavoring to propagate their detestable doctrines among us…”
Aside from the question of whether Robison was correct in his accusation is an equally important one: if the freemasons are really up to no good, are they continuing with their shenanigans today?
A lot of people believe they are, and many are speaking out with revelations of various levels of believability. Many are dismissed as conspiracy theorists (which, in turn, reinforces the belief of many others in the secret societies’ willingness to ‘throttle the truth’). Former singer-songwriter and winner of The X Factor Australia, Altiyan Childs, for example, shared a five-hour video where he proclaims that nearly every Western institution has been infiltrated by the Freemasons, to the point where it is nearly impossible to rise to high office – from the world of entertainment to politics and everything in between – without the silent nod of this international fraternity. That video has been viewed nearly four million times.
While it may be easy to laugh off such outlandish claims based on the ‘Illuminati’ and other such groups, there are other societies that make no secret about their secrecy, and have a much more tangible claim to controlling the world.
World Economic Forum

If there were a reigning king of secret societies today, the title would undoubtedly go to the World Economic Forum. Founded in 1971 by the German engineer and economist Klaus Schwab, the foundation, which brings together the top 1,000 most powerful corporations in the world, views its mission as “improving the state of the world by engaging business, political, academic, and other leaders of society to shape global, regional, and industry agendas.” Democratic procedure doesn’t seem to have a place in this formula.
As the author and social critic Nick Buxton described the annual confab, held in the mountains of Davos, Switzerland, “this unaccountable invitation-only gathering is increasingly where global decisions are being taken and moreover is becoming the default form of global governance.”
Schwab has gone on record as saying that “the sovereign state has become obsolete,” and that in order to fill the power void there needs to be a “global issue alliance” apparently with himself at the helm.
Not only does Davos serve as an elitist cocktail party for “improving the state of the world” far from the prying eyes of humanity, it also works to “penetrate” governments around the world with their self-taught protégé.
“What we are really proud of now is the young generation, like Prime Minister [Justin] Trudeau,” Schwab boasted back in 2017, who make it possible for us to “penetrate the cabinets” of governments around the world.
The Davos leader then provided an example, saying he had “attended a reception for Prime Minister Trudeau and I saw that half or his cabinet or even more are from the Young Global Leaders program of the World Economic Forum.”
It does not require much imagination for regular folks – never mind the conspiracy theorists – to find something nefarious about the most powerful people on the planet “penetrating” governments with their specially trained representatives. And that’s exactly what happened with the introduction of the Covid-19 pandemic – many people saw it as a fabricated emergency to not only deprive millions of people of their livelihood, but to further enrich the very individuals who make up the ranks of the Davos group (the forced lockdowns on people and private businesses caused one of the largest transfers of wealth in human history as only the very largest companies could survive under such conditions).
There were other reasons to be suspicious. In October 2019, the WEF, together with Johns Hopkins University and the Bill & Melissa Gates Foundation, held a tabletop seminar entitled Event 201 that described what would happen in the event of a global pandemic. Three months later, everything that the simulation described – from the lockdown of entire countries, to businesses being forced to close down – came to pass with the arrival of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Of course, this is not to say that Klaus Schwab and the Davos elite took advantage of a deadly pandemic to enrich themselves, but many people believe just that – or are at least suspicious about a secretive organization pushing for a ‘Great Reset’. Those two words have become the trigger word for many – while the WEF presented them as a benevolent post-Covid economic recovery plan, detractors pointed to a 2016 video released by the Forum as a prediction of the future and featuring the ominous words “You’ll own nothing. And you’ll be happy.” The plan, they claim, is to enact a new global world order.
Skull and Bones

In a non-descript building (for a full view of this structure, which is dubbed ‘the Tomb’ – and for good reason – check out the video) on the campus of Yale University is the home of Skull and Bones, a secretive fraternity that first appeared on the scene in 1832 (women were not granted membership into Skull and Bones until 1992).
Skull and Bones, which is also known as The Order, Order 322 or The Brotherhood of Death, is notoriously selective in determining who can become a so-called ‘Bonesman.’ The society selects new members among students every spring as part of its so-called ‘Tap Day’ when just 15 seniors are invited.
Despite its intense exclusivity, many members have ascended after graduation to positions of prominence in the world of intelligence, business and government. Three of them—William Howard Taft, George H.W. Bush, and George W. Bush—went on to become U.S. presidents. This was the cause of an awkward moment in the 2004 United States presidential election between George W. Bush and John Kerry, both members of Skull and Bones.
The late NBC journalist Tim Russert confronted both men as to their membership in the organization and ‘what that means for America.’ Bush just chuckled and said, “It’s so secret we can’t talk about it.” Kerry responded almost the same, saying he could not speak about his membership “because it’s a secret.” And with that the American people were forced to choose between two men from opposite sides of the particular spectrum who shared secrets the voter would never know about.
Bilderberg

This group got its name from the Bilderberg Hotel, located in Oosterbeek, Netherlands, where the Bilderbergs had their first meeting in May 1954. But unlike Skull and Bones, Bilderberg is very much global in scope. In fact, it is so global that one of the conspiracy theories it must contend with is that it is trying to create a one world government.
Denis Healey, one of the original founders of the group, lent credence to that theory when he told a journalist: “To say we were striving for a one-world government is exaggerated, but not wholly unfair. Those of us in Bilderberg felt we couldn’t go on forever fighting one another for nothing and killing people and rendering millions homeless. So we felt that a single community throughout the world would be a good thing.”
The invitees tend to hail from a narrow spectrum of occupations – CEOs, finance ministers and heads of state. For the one or two journalists who receive an invitation, the privilege is largely symbolic since they are not permitted to write about what they see and hear. Bilderberg releases an annual list of those who will attend and the subjects they’ll discuss, but beyond that, little leaves the walls of the hotel.
So here we are left with the question: is there any place for secret societies inside of our democracies, especially when the members of these groups are always working on behalf of their own special interests? The answer seems obvious, but as it stands there are no laws on the books that prevent people – even those who say they represent us – from meeting together in private. As a result, the only option for the common folk is to protest these back-door meetings at every opportunity. And that is all.

‘Knowledge Is Power’: Constitutional Scholar Strives to Educate the Public and Rein in the Federal Government
Christin McMasters’ strategy for teaching about the U.S. Constitution is first to establish a foundation by answering why we have a government, and from there, why we have a constitution.
McMasters, also known as The Liberty Belle via her blog, has initiated a North Carolina-based constitutional-advocacy crusade to answer those questions in classes, speaking engagements, and informative articles that can be found on her website: thelibertybellenc.com.
For McMasters, the answer to those questions is simple, but it’s been lost under a rapidly accumulating pile of bureaucratic gobbledygook, doublespeak, and propaganda.
“We created the government to do a job for us, so they’re our employees, and we the people are their employers,” McMasters told The Epoch Times.
But without a job description, those government officials have no reason to do what their employers require of them if the employers themselves aren’t even sure of what the job is.
“The job description specifically tells our government what it can and cannot do,” McMasters said.
And this is where the U.S. Constitution enters the picture, McMasters said.
“It’s huge because, throughout world history, governments have had arbitrary power, which is power that comes from nowhere,” McMasters said. “It’s unconfined and limitless.”
But if government officials have an agreed-upon job description—and both citizens and government officials know their assigned roles—veering off a clear path into the shadow of capricious mandates, restrictions, and even lockdowns isn’t an option for the employers or the employees.
“The Constitution has nothing to do with my feelings, thoughts, or beliefs,” she said. “It has to do with the fact that we don’t want a government that can do whatever it wants. I haven’t found a Democrat or Republican who wants a government with arbitrary power.”
One of her inspirations for starting her initiative, McMasters said, was her observation that many people don’t know why they believe what they say they believe, she said.
Combine that with what she described as “the amount of very effective propaganda that’s being pushed in the academic world,” and students are left with no foundation, she said.
“I can’t blame college students for falling for everything they’re being told because it pulls on all the right emotional strings, and it seems to make sense, but the ‘whys’ are never answered still,” she said. “Many students go into these college environments and fall for everything because they don’t stand for anything.”
‘Why We Should Care’
McMasters, a self-described “millennial constitutionalist” from Charleston, South Carolina, got her doctorate in political science at the University of South Carolina, though she said she’s not the average academic.
“I actually love this country and love liberty and will fight for it at all costs,” she says on her website.
Not wishing to censor herself, McMasters chose not to reenter academia after getting her doctorate, so she teaches at a local community college while networking as The Liberty Belle, she said.
“I’m very passionate about what I do,” she said. “I want to make the Constitution relevant to all students by answering the big questions, like why they should care.”
McMasters doesn’t drape her classes with opinion as many academics tend to do, she said, because what’s most important is what the Constitution says, she said, not what she thinks.
When she speaks on national issues, she addresses them from a “purely constitutional perspective,” she said.
“I have strong feelings about things, but my fundamental goal is to confine the government to one that has to do what it’s told, not whatever it wants,” she said. “As I’ve given presentations throughout North Carolina, I’ve found that many people have genuinely never been taught some of these basic principles of the Constitution, which is why I build that foundation first.”
Getting students to drop their ideological convictions and make educated, objective arguments based not on opinion but around the parameters of the Constitution is rewarding, she said.
Threats to the Constitution
Two of the biggest threats to the U.S. Constitution, McMasters said, are ignorance and dwindling respect.
“In Charles Montesquieu’s ‘The Spirit of Laws,’ Montesquieu writes about the love of the law for a country to last,” she said.
There have been countries that took the U.S. Constitution model for their own but eventually still failed, she said.
“They end up getting overthrown in like ten years, and this has happened time and time again,” she said. “So why on earth has ours lasted so long? There’s this genuine respect people have for the document.”
Though the Constitution is violated “left and right and all over the place,” it’s done so under the pretense that it’s still being followed, she said.
“You’ll notice politicians say, ‘That’s not constitutional,’” she said. “The only reason they feel like they should say that is because they know there’s still a shred of respect in the American public whose favor they could lose if they go too far.”
However, that shred of respect is being slowly whittled down, she said.
This is what concerns McMasters, and why she said she started The Liberty Belle.
“The inherent spirit of the Constitution that exists in our hearts and minds is being killed, and when that happens, the government can do whatever it wants, as publicly as it wants, and nobody’s going to blink,” she said.
In many classrooms, the teaching of critical race theory (CRT)—the Marxist philosophy that sees society as a class struggle between oppressors and the oppressed, specifically labeling white people as the oppressors and all other races as the oppressed—has minimized the U.S. Constitution as an outdated document written by what proponents of CRT have deemed as racists.
To this, McMasters responded, “What’s more outdated: a government that has the arbitrary power of kings, queens, czars, and emperors—which is what we’ve had since the beginning of time—or this so-called outdated document that protects our liberties and keeps us from having an unconfined government?”
The United States, she said, has done something revolutionary and modern in that it confined government.
Just Say No
However, over time citizens have become less informed about the relationship between them and their employees: the government officials.
This has led to a bloated government, McMasters said, and with that, the shadow of arbitrary power has cast itself wider.
Constitutional violations on a federal level have been numerous, which is why she said citizens need to get involved in their local governments to hold them accountable by making them assert themselves within the framework of their own state constitutions.
“States have been able to successfully protect their citizens because local government officials know where the federal government’s power starts and stops,” she said. “The problem now is we have states hooked on federal money.”
When states take federal money, the federal government can then dictate how laws are written, which McMasters said brings the issue back to ignorance.
“Unfortunately, citizens are the ones demanding that states take that money because many of them are uninformed and not realizing that they’re asking the government to provide arbitrary power,” she said. “If we can get people educated, however, so that they’re aware that this isn’t a federal job, then suddenly you’ve changed the game and the states can start saying, ‘No,’ and pulling themselves off that money.”
Education and law enforcement have fallen into these traps, she said, and there are many local police who have been deputized on a federal level.
“Despite the fact that we have multiple federal policing agencies now, there’s technically no policing allowed in the Constitution for the federal government,” she said.
When local law enforcement agencies take federal money, they become subjects to the arbitrary power of the federal government, opening the door for potential ethical violations, including violations of human rights.
“If the federal government tells these agencies to round up all of the unvaccinated people, we need a police force to say, ‘Sorry, that’s not within our power, and it’s not within yours,’” McMasters said. “But they have to know they can just say no.”
This is why McMasters said she’s willing to bring her educational political consulting to all local agencies such as law enforcement and grassroots organizations, because she said local citizens need to know when the federal government is exceeding its boundaries, a historically dangerous practice that leads to local entities becoming subjects of a federal rule.
For McMasters, it’s not just a cliché when she says, “Knowledge is literally power.”

US government frets over Musk-owned Twitter

Billionaire Elon Musk’s acquisition of social media giant Twitter has seen the US government suddenly backing away from its embrace of such mega platforms. “No matter who owns or runs Twitter, the president [Joe Biden] has long been concerned about the power of large social media platforms [and] the power they have over our daily lives,” White House press secretary Jen Psaki stated during a press briefing on Monday after Musk officially bought Twitter for $44 billion.
The White House spokesperson insisted the administration was continuing to push for the repeal of Section 230 of the Communications Decency Act, which offers platforms that host third-party content immunity from liability for user-supplied content, as well as antitrust and transparency enforcement against the social media behemoths.
“We engage regularly with all social media platforms about steps that can be taken,” Psaki claimed, adding that while she was “sure [this] will continue,” there were “also reforms that we think Congress could take.”
While there are multiple antitrust cases pending against Facebook, Amazon, Google, and Apple, Twitter has been in the regulatory crosshairs somewhat less often. However, it has received plenty of attention as the former online home of ex-President Donald Trump, from which he was exiled in January 2021 following the January 6 riot at the Capitol while he was still commander-in-chief. Some fear a Musk-led Twitter will give him back his account, though he remains banned from other mainstream social media outlets.
However, Trump told Fox News on Monday he plans to focus on TRUTH Social, his own social media network that debuted earlier this year, and would not return to Twitter even if Musk reinstated his page. Trump has also been a vocal supporter of repealing Section 230, which would align him with the White House if Psaki’s statements reflect the administration’s genuine position.
However, the Biden’s team have in the past praised such monopolistic platforms, admitting government officials had personally flagged ‘misinformation’ related to Covid-19 on Facebook, even while calling on the tech giants to do more to silence unauthorized viewpoints.
Musk has promised to make free speech central in his takeover of Twitter, and took the unusual step of calling for his “worst critics” to stay on the service, insisting this is “what free speech means.”
While his purchase had some on the platform frothing mad, Twitter stock was up 6% on the announcement of the acquisition.

Gregg Braden explains what happened in 325 AD. Emperor Constantine converted and established Christianity as the official religion of the Roman Empire. The motivations of the Emperor were complex. Christianity had grown too powerful to suppress, and even Roman soldiers secretly converting to Christianity. Emperor Constantine established Christianity as the official roman religion, the 27 books of the bible where decided by a group of at and as it is today. All other forms of Christian beliefs were eliminated, by destroying and burning texts, letters and manuscripts. Many early followers of Christ were condemned by other Christians as heretics. Orthodox Christianity prevailed when in 397 C.E., the Council of Carthage established the orthodox New Testament canon with the 27 books. Through the years, the New Testament Canon had scribes copy by hand, word for word, taking or adding a word or even a letter has changed the meaning today. Nearly 2000 years later our understanding of Jesus teachings is from the New Testament Canon but with nearly 2000 years of editing. There are over 40 versions of the New Testament today. The church leaders provide their teachings to an uncertain concept, until now!
Now we have an astonishing variety of early Christian writings survive outside the canon of the New Testament. In many case, these writings expand upon the New Testament writings with a new understanding of Jesus’ message. For the first time we have access to an apocrypha Jesus, hidden or secret teachings. In 1945, original gnostic documents were found and is believed to be one of the most important archaeological finds in the 20th century. Thirteen ancient texts of Gnostic works called “codices” found in caves in Upper Egypt untouched by scribes, can be found in the Nag Hammadi Library . Among the manuscripts was the discovery of a complete copy of 114 secret sayings of Jesus, known as Gospel of Thomas, thought to be constructed in the 1st or 2nd century A.D. Some of the sayings in the Gospel of Thomas can be found in the New Testament.
We know the church version, but now we can know another version and you can seek the truth for yourself.

Weapon of Mass Destruction Revealed
As the truth is being revealed, we are learning the world is and was not as it seems. Our physical and metaphysical worlds are inseparable and today technology is being revealed before our very eyes.
HAARP - (High-frequency Active Auroral Research Program) H.A.A.R.P. is a geophysical weapon so powerful, it is a weapon of mass destruction using Weather modification & manipulation.
On January 15, 1981 contact was made by an advanced extraterrestrial or social memory complex from the 6th dimension to a Group at L/L Research. The group was Don Elkins, a former Physics Professor and Airline pilot, Carla Rueckert, a devoted Christian; , and James McCarty, the Scribe and sole survivor today. The contact was made so the group could ask questions and Ra would answer the question as long as it did not infringe on freewill. The group recorded and documented over 2360 questions and answers in 106 sessions from 1981 to 1984. Answers were given in a scientific and metaphysical vocabulary. Of particular interest is the question and answer related the above video and the events in Ukraine with Russia. The question was asked on August 8, 1981.
65.8 Questioner: Are you saying then that this possible condition of war would be much more greatly spread across the surface of the globe than anything we have experienced in the past and therefore touch a larger percentage of the population in this form of catalyst?
Ra: I am Ra. This is correct. There are those now experimenting with one of the major weapons of this scenario, that is the so-called psychotronic group of devices which are being experimentally used to cause such alterations in wind and weather as will result in eventual famine. If this program is not countered and proves experimentally satisfactory, the methods in this scenario would be made public. There would then be what those whom you call Russians hope to be a bloodless invasion of their personnel in this and every land deemed valuable. However, the peoples of your culture have little propensity for bloodless surrender.

There is evidence are pointing towards NATO armed & trained neo-Nazi battalion in the Ukraine Neutralizing & denazifying the Azov Battalion. The CIA May Be Breeding Nazi Terror in Ukraine. https://t.me/JFK_Awakening_Q17/107
Another interesting question related to weather patterns was asked and answered by Ra.
8.7 Questioner: I’m puzzled by these craft that we have undersea bases for. They are [inaudible]. Is this technology sufficient to overshadow all other armaments? Do we have just the ability to fly in these craft or are there any weapons like there are… Were they given to us [inaudible] or are they just craft for transport? What is the basic mechanism of their [inaudible]? It’s really hard to believe is what I’m saying.
Ra: I am Ra. The craft are perhaps misnamed in some instances. It would be more appropriate to consider them as weaponry. The energy used is that of the field of electromagnetic energy which polarizes the Earth sphere. The weaponry is of two basic kinds: that which is called by your peoples psychotronic and that which is called by your peoples particle beam. The amount of destruction which is contained in this technology is considerable and the weapons have been used in many cases to alter weather patterns and to enhance the vibratory change which engulfs your planet at this time.
It is also interesting to note that in session 11:18 Ra spoke of mind control and enslavement by their own freewill. We that operation mockingbird?
11.18 Questioner: Then we have crusaders from Orion coming to this planet for mind control purposes. How do they do this?
Ra: I am Ra. As all, they follow the Law of One observing free will. Contact is made with those who call. Those then upon the planetary sphere act much as do you to disseminate the attitudes and philosophy of their particular understanding of the Law of One which is service to self. These become the elite. Through these, the attempt begins to create a condition whereby the remainder of the planetary entities are enslaved by their free will.
The Law of One is a wonderful source of information. It takes you on a spiritual adventure revealing our purpose of existence and the consequences of our behavior. It is about love, light, wisdom, free-will and seeking the truth and as you see hints about our future. .

COVID Shots Are the Deadliest ‘Vaccines’ in Medical History
STORY AT-A-GLANCE
- Data suggest 1 in 317 boys aged 16 to 17 will get myocarditis from the COVID shots, and after a third booster, that number may be even higher
- VAERS reporting is likely underreported by a factor of 41. Since there are over 8,000 domestic deaths reported to VAERS, and 98% of those deaths are “excess deaths,” this suggests that as many as 300,000 Americans may have died from the COVID shots thus far
- Calculations based on government data from 35% of the world’s population suggest we’re killing approximately 411 people per million doses on average. Moderna and Pfizer are both two-dose regimens, which pushes this to 822 deaths per million fully vaccinated. And that’s just the short-term mortality. We still have no concept of how these shots might impact mortality and morbidity in the longer term
- An Italian investigation found that if the COVID mortality definition were changed to only include those cases where there were no preexisting comorbidities, the mortality from COVID comes out to just 2.9% of the overall reported number. This suggests that if a COVID death was redefined to being a death actually “from” COVID rather than “with” COVID, the death count could be substantially smaller than 760,000 deaths and may be smaller than the number killed by the vaccines
- The deadliest vaccine ever made is the smallpox vaccine, which killed 1 in 1 million vaccinated people. The COVID shots kills 822 per million fully vaccinated, making it more than 800 times deadlier than the deadliest vaccine in human history

Misinformation About Kyle Rittenhouse Case Floods Social Media, TV Networks
Kyle Rittenhouse shot three black men. Kyle Rittenhouse traveled across state lines with a gun. Kyle Rittenhouse had an AK-47.
These are three examples of false information being spread about Rittenhouse, whose trial ended last week with his acquittal.
Prominent influencers, including lawmakers and reporters, are sources of some of the misinformation—possibly disinformation—leaving experts troubled.
On CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, reporter Mark Strassman falsely said Rittenhouse “drove in from Illinois armed for battle.” On CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” on Friday, Harvard University professor Cornell William Brooks falsely said Rittenhouse was carrying an AK-47. The Independent falsely reported late last week that Rittenhouse shot three black men.
Rittenhouse, 17 years old at the time, shot three men, two fatally, with an AR-15 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020. All were white, as is Rittenhouse. The gun was bought by a friend and was picked up by the teenager, who resided in Illinois, from a home in Kenosha.
Rittenhouse claimed self-defense and the jury agreed, clearing him of all charges after video footage and witness testimony during the trial showed he was attacked by all of the men he shot.
“As soon as the Rittenhouse situation happened in Kenosha, the establishment media immediately created a narrative that would work with their particular, preferred narrative. As we now know, that led to a good many mischaracterizations and errors at that time,” Jeffrey McCall, a communications professor at DePauw University, told The Epoch Times in an email.
“By now, those media outlets are so committed to that narrative that they can’t drag themselves to correct previous errors or provide accurate details today. This not only reflects that some media outlets work with predetermined, ideological narratives, but that they are also too lazy to report facts as provided in the actual trial,” he added.
Ryan Chittum, a former journalist, and media critic with the Columbia Journalism Review, said that some of the legacy news outlets have done excellent journalism on the Rittenhouse case, including the New Yorker, “but it’s been like a few drops in a firehouse of tendentious, false, and often malicious press coverage intended to fit an ideological narrative.”
“On balance, the press has been a destructive force on this story, from its beginnings in the coverage of the Jacob Blake shooting that set the whole thing off and which we know was justified, to the downplaying of the $50 million in destruction done by rioters in Kenosha, to the libelous portrayal of Rittenhouse and the particulars of what happened,” he told The Epoch Times in a Twitter message. “There have been innumerable journalistic disasters in the Trump era, but this is the most blatantly reckless one of them all.”
Rittenhouse shot the men during riots that followed a police officer shooting Jacob Blake in the same city.
Blake was armed with a knife. Video footage showed he resisted arrest after visiting the home of an ex-girlfriend who had previously accused him of sexual assault. Prosecutors decided not to charge the officer in January because he appeared to act in self-defense and the Department of Justice last month announced it was closing a probe and filing no charges. The sexual assault charge was dropped last year.
Blake survived the shooting, though he is partially paralyzed. Some people falsely said last week that he died, including ESPN’s Jalen Rose and ABC’s Terry Moran.
“I misspoke and quickly corrected myself, on the air, as soon as I could. I apologize for the error,” Moran wrote on Twitter.

Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, claimed Blake died and that he was unarmed.
The committee later sent out an updated statement from Maloney. “Apologies,” Chris Hayden, its communication director, wrote on Twitter.
The Maloney statement stood out to Jeffrey Blevins, a professor in the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Journalism who is working on a book about how misinformation is spread.
“I think a lot of times the political left tend to think that false information, fake news, misinformation, is something that is only attributable to the political right. And that’s just simply not the case,” Blevins told The Epoch Times.
While people with small followings may put forth misinformation, much more damage is done when higher-profile influencers such as lawmakers do.
“When we think about influencers—and politicians fit into this category, certainly the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee—their official account would be seen as a credible source,” he said. “When they put something out like this, it tends to stick with people’s minds.”
The false claims have had the potential to reach tens of millions of people on Twitter, where they were spread far and wide. The ESPN, CBS, CNN, and ABC shows combined have millions of viewers.
Among those falling prey to the misinformation or dubious claims were two professors who have been cited by media outlets as experts in identifying it.
Lisa Fazio, a Vanderbilt psychology professor, shared a video of Amber Ruffin, who has her own show on NBC, making multiple false or evidence-free claims, including the assertion that Rittenhouse brought a rifle across state lines. That video has been watched over 7.7 million times since Nov. 19, getting boosted by the likes of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
Shannon McGregor, a professor at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, shared a tweet that called Rittenhouse “openly white supremacist,” a claim that has no evidence supporting it.
Blevins said the situation reminds him of what happened in 2019 when a brief, tightly edited video clip from Washington was disseminated widely by media and others.
Nick Sandmann, a Kentucky high school student, was in the nation’s capital with classmates. The clip was used to falsely state Sandmann confronted a Native American, Nathan Phillips, but video footage that later emerged showed the exact opposite was the case. Many media outlets issued corrections, and some paid Sandmann to settle defamation lawsuits.
The person who initially posted the clip had a small following, but it was widely spread, Blevins noted.
“People seem to be so eager to bring their hot take to social media, which is probably what happened in this case, and then you miss important pieces of context, and it can really do some damage,” he said.
Blevins encouraged people to be more cautious, recalling what he did when the clip initially emerged. He waited, instead of sharing it or posting about it, knowing that in the past unconfirmed material was spread wildly but was later shown to be incorrect.
