Martial Arts Instructor Shares Experience Reversing Stage 3 Colon Cancer With Intermittent Fasting
About four months after being diagnosed with stage 3 colorectal cancer, Fred Evrard was told by his smiling doctor: “Mr. Evrard, you are cancer free.” A lot had happened in just four months.
Stage 3 Colon Cancer Hit When His Body Was at Its Peak
On Sept. 10, 2020, Fred Evrard, aged 48, experienced a devastating blow in his life—he was diagnosed with stage 3 colon cancer, and the tumor in his body reached 10 centimeters in length.
The news came as a real surprise to Evrard, a strong athletic martial arts instructor.
Evrard has been practicing martial arts since he was a child. Over the past few decades, he has been active in various fitness activities such as boxing, parkour, tai chi, qigong, and meditation, in addition to teaching martial arts classes. His body was in prime shape when he was diagnosed, weighing 70 kg (154 lbs) with only nine percent body fat.
His lifestyle and diet were also extremely healthy in the eyes of ordinary people. Evrard has been a vegetarian for many years—he only eats natural and organic food and never consumes junk food. In addition, he rotates various diet plans all year round, such as ketogenic diet, intermittent fasting, paleo diet, etc. He does not smoke or drink and lives a disciplined life. He goes to bed between nine and ten at night and wakes up between five and six in the morning.
However, Evrard inherited the colon cancer gene, and both his father and grandfather died of colon cancer. He once thought that his lifestyle was so healthy that he could fight against the influence of unfavorable genetics.
Nevertheless, it was not all for nothing. Evrard’s healthy lifestyle and eating habits have indeed supported his body. In his book “How My Immune System Beat Cancer,” he wrote, “doctors told me that without my clean and organic diet of the past 20 years and my strong athletic body, I would probably have been dead already. My lifestyle stopped the cancer from spreading.”
Evrard believes that “stress was probably the trigger” for the cancer outbreak despite having an extremely healthy lifestyle and diet. Evrard traveled all year round to teach martial arts and attend events around the world and the process of obtaining a green card in the U.S. is long, difficult, and expensive. Also, due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all of his international martial arts schools had to cease operation, and various other of his businesses were also suspended, resulting in a sudden loss of income.
With so much weighing on his shoulders, his body eventually collapsed.
Evrard was overwhelmed by the fact that his colorectal cancer had reached stage 3. He said he was “frozen” and lay dead in bed for three days without eating or drinking. At the same time, his pain was “multiplied a hundredfold” by the tumor that was oppressing the nerve and the tremendous psychological pressure brought about by the diagnosis. He said that on a scale of zero to 10, the constant pain he experienced was at 9.9.
Fight Plan: Fasting and Ketogenic Diet
Three days later, Evrard, who was born a fighter, chose to get back on his feet, and set three beliefs for himself:
- First, I’m going to survive this.
- Second, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
- Third, let food be thy medicine. (Hippocrates)
He eagerly searched and read everything he could find about cancer, natural treatments, fasting, and various diets and found that there are numerous cases of successful reversal and treatment of cancer through fasting.
After reading the materials, Evrard began to discover and agree with the theory that cancer is a metabolic disease and decided to treat his cancer with fasting. The theory suggests that when mitochondria in the cells are damaged and switch to an anaerobic metabolic mode it eventually leads to cancer. In other words, carcinogenesis is the result of damaged mitochondria, not the cause of cancer. Cancer cells do not need to break down oxygen for respiration—they survive and grow uncontrollably by anaerobically breaking down glucose and glutamine (an amino acid). Correspondingly, fasting can cut off the food of cancer cells, and they will starve to death without glucose and glutamine.
In addition, Evrard learned that the body will start a cleansing and autophagy process during fasting, which can maximize the removal of toxic and harmful substances from the body.
In an exclusive interview with The Epoch Times, Evrard said that when he learned that cancer is a metabolic disease, he also realized that it is a disease mainly caused by lifestyle and toxins. Therefore, his first thought was to “reduce toxins in the body and try to remove them.”
However, the more he looked into it, the more he realized that “there is a huge gap between scientific and biological research and the field of medicine.”
When he consulted with his oncologists about the possibility of using fasting and the ketogenic diet to treat cancer, the doctors were either unconvinced or unwilling to discuss them. Instead, they told him that he needed immediate treatment by conventional means: 24 sessions of chemotherapy treatment, followed by several months of radiation therapy, and the final step of surgery. The end of his colon would be removed along with his anus, and he would not be able to control his bowel movements and would have a bag hanging outside his body for the rest of his life. Evrard did not want to accept such treatment.
The decision to fight cancer with fasting put Evrard under tremendous pressure because most cancer patients tend to accept the traditional cancer treatment methods provided by the hospital. His emotions often fluctuated during this process, but he stuck to his decision.
So, Evrard embarked on a 21-day fast, during which he drank only plain water and some wheatgrass juice once a week. His strong desire to survive kept him going.
A miracle was shown on the MRI image after 21 days of fasting—the length of the tumor on his colon shrank from 10 cm to 6 cm, and its diameter also shrank significantly. That’s when Evrard knew he was “on the right path.”
After the fast, he adopted a ketogenic diet, or more precisely, a carnivore diet. This was because he couldn’t eat anything with fiber due to severe intestinal inflammation. In addition, any food with processed ingredients also caused pain in his body—he couldn’t even eat chicken or pork. He found that the only food he could eat without feeling miserable was 100 percent grass-fed beef. Rib-eye steak, in particular, had the perfect balance of protein and fat for him.
During that period, he adopted intermittent fasting and ate only one meal a day. Just like that, he ate rib-eye steaks for months on end. Recognizing the nutritional benefits of vegetables, he later added cold-pressed vegetable juices that had been stripped of fiber to his diet.
Fasting Combined With Chemotherapy Was Miraculous
The pain caused by the cancer tumor continued to be unbearable for Evrard, and none of the pain relief methods worked. It was so painful that he curled up on the ground and cried, even hitting his head against the wall. In the end, Evrard decided to follow his doctor’s advice and undergo a six-session chemotherapy regimen.
Evrard had read some research and data on how fasting could ease chemotherapy. Therefore, he decided to fast the day before and after each chemotherapy session, and three days during the session, that is, a total of five days. The results were excellent, and he experienced minimal chemotherapy side effects such as nausea and fatigue.
During the second chemotherapy session, Evrard did not fast completely. He tried to eat some food the day before chemotherapy, and he fell ill immediately during the session. He was so ill that he vomited repeatedly and even developed a bowel obstruction. He said in his book that “he was sick like a dog.”
Evrard then fasted again for his third chemotherapy session. This time, he completed the session without experiencing any side effects: no hair loss, nausea, vomiting, headache, or dizziness. The immune indicators in his blood were also normal, which surprised the nurses.
Studies found that intermittent fasting can be helpful for people who are undergoing chemotherapy treatment.
After his three chemo sessions, he continued to implement the ketogenic diet, and gradually added physical training, such as tai chi, boxing, and high-intensity interval training(HIIT), in December of the same year.
During the holiday week of Christmas and New Year in 2020, Evrard’s mother visited and his body no longer felt bad, so he resumed his normal diet for a week, eating all kinds of desserts and delicious food.
Beginning again on Jan. 2, he embarked on a second round of fasting as he was worried about his upcoming MRI (magnetic resonance imaging) examination. However, this time he did not fast for 21 consecutive days like in the first round. Instead, he completed the second round of fasting with a five-day fast and a two-day ketogenic diet on weekends. Furthermore, his weekend ketogenic diet consisted of only one meal.
On Jan. 10, 2021, he underwent another MRI and blood test, leading to back the opening of this article—the doctor announced that he was officially cancer-free, and the cancer cells in his body disappeared.
Combining Multiple Approaches
In addition to starving cancer cells to death with fasting and a ketogenic diet, Evrard, as a martial arts practitioner who understands the essence of fighting, adopted multiple approaches at the same time to fight cancer. Apart from these anti-cancer approaches, it was his strong willpower and positive beliefs that kept him going.
As Evrard regained his strength, he began exercising to boost his immunity against cancer. For the first two months after his diagnosis, he was too weak to perform any exercise. Two months later, he began to practice tai chi for 10 minutes a day to slowly recover his strength. He also pointed out in his book that tai chi as a fitness exercise is very suitable for cancer patients due to its simple and slow movements. Since then, he got back to high-intensity training, such as boxing and HIIT. On top of that, he insisted on exercising on an empty stomach to maximize the effectiveness of the body’s cleansing and autophagy mode.
Evrard values the benefits of meditation for the mind and body and read a lot of sources pointing to the positive effect of meditation on fighting cancer. He stresses that meditation has no risks or side effects, and has helped him boost his energy, and reduce stress and fear—factors that often hasten death in cancer patients. Meditation has many other benefits, such as relieving chronic pain, improving sleep quality, reducing fatigue, and improving cognitive function.
Evrard also jumped on a mini-trampoline to help the lymphatic system flush out toxins from the body. Unlike the heart, which pumps blood around the body, the lymphatic system relies entirely on the movement of muscles and joints to complete circulation. Jumping on the trampoline can help the lymph flow back to the lymph nodes, thereby successfully completing the filtration and detoxification, and boosting the body’s immunity. Trampoline exercise brings ample oxygen to the body, thus changing the hypoxic environment preferred by cancer cells. At the same time, trampoline exercise can also increase the number and activity of white blood cells in the blood, which can help eliminate cancer cells.
In addition, Evrard also used therapeutic hypothermia to mobilize the body’s immune function to fight cancer. He exposes his body to low temperatures for a short period of time by taking cold water baths and waterfall baths, meditating in the snow, walking his dog wearing minimal clothes in cold weather, etc. He has also read in the literature reviews that therapeutic hypothermia can help cancer patients reduce inflammation in the body.
In addition to these physical activities and practices, Evrard is also focused on healing his mind. He sees a psychologist regularly and keeps strengthening his positive belief. In his daily meditation, he uses the prayer: “I am thankful for my full and final healing. I am healed and healthy.” “Faith is an essential part of my journey,” he wrote in his book. He also strives to practice the law of attraction in his spiritual journey. The law of attraction believes that positive or negative thoughts can lead to positive or negative experiences in one’s life.
Last but not least, there is also love from relatives and friends that supported Evrard along the way. He said that his wife, mother, close friends, and even his dog have brought him endless warmth and comfort, and they are the most important support in his healing process.
A Typical Day for Evrard in His Battle With Cancer
Evrard shared his typical daily schedule and various recipes he used while fighting cancer in his book “How My Immune System Beat Cancer.” Here are a few:
- 06:00: Wake up and stay on intermittent fasting until 14:00.
About 20 minutes of cold exposure training.
- 07:00: Meditation, deep breathing, tai chi.
- 09:00: HITT training three or four times a week, three minutes of mini trampoline exercise every day.
- 10:00: Cold exposure training—waterfall bath three times a week. Cold shower for the rest of the week.
See psychologist once a week.
Full body massage every two weeks.
- 12:00: Physical training (45 minutes each session, four times a week).
- 14:00: Drink vegetable juices and take supplements (Vitamin D3, vitamin C, curcumin, zinc, and fish oil)
- 15:00: Drink a cup of wheatgrass juice with matcha.
- 16:00: Ketogenic meal (typically fried rib-eye steak with olive oil and garlic), and take supplements (Vitamin D3, vitamin C, curcumin, digestive enzymes, etc.)
- 16:30: Drink matcha and take melatonin.
Start intermittent fasting until 14:00 the next day.
- 21:30: Go to bed.
As Evrard’s family physician, Dr. Charles Gibert was actively involved in his treatment. Having witnessed the whole story, he wrote the foreword to “How My Immune System Beat Cancer.”
“We live in a time of ‘one problem, one pill’ and Fred’s adventure is an incredible testimony that things could be different. We need to truly understand what cancer is telling us. Those people begin to dream that what has been tied up in a tumor can be untied with a natural cure. And they are right! One of those people is my friend, Fred Evrard, and he did it.”

Zelensky’s deputy chief of staff is among the Ukrainian officials who have lost their positions
Kirill Timoshenko has resigned as deputy head of Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky’s office, after the head of state pledged to shake up the government.
The reshuffle, which the president announced in his daily video address on Tuesday morning, will affect officials “on different levels, in ministries and other bodies of central and provincial authority, and law enforcement.”
Timoshenko is the most senior official whose removal from office has been confirmed so far. He published his signed resignation letter on social media in a farewell post.
Some Ukrainian news outlets have said he will be replaced with Aleksey Kuleba, head of the Kiev Region, and that Timoshenko may be put in charge of a provincial administration.
Another senior official heading for the exit is Deputy Prosecutor General Aleksey Simonenko, according to reports. Earlier this month he sparked outrage by spending the New Year holidays in Spain.
Aside from the bad optics of relaxing at a foreign resort during wartime, the trip raised suspicions of corruption, as Simonenko allegedly used a car that belongs to a wealthy businessman, and was accompanied by a bodyguard employed by the car’s owner.
Following the incident, the Ukrainian National Security Council issued an order banning officials from crossing the national border unless they are on state business.
Simonenko’s resignation was officially confirmed by Zelensky’s office later in the day.
Meanwhile, Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov was apparently spared on Monday, after the Ukrainian parliament declined to take action against him over a graft scandal.
A media investigation claimed on Saturday that the ministry was buying food supplies worth hundreds of millions of dollars for troops, at prices that were several times higher than in Ukrainian retail chains.
Reznikov told lawmakers that the documents cited in the investigation were inaccurate, and that some prices were inflated due to a “technical error”. Other items legitimately included costs that retail prices do not, he claimed, arguing that the comparison was not valid.
Some members of parliament accepted the minister’s explanations, but the Ukrainian anti-corruption body NABU continues to investigate the graft allegations.
Last week, NABU indicted Andrey Kobolev, the former CEO of state-owned energy company Naftogaz. In 2018, he awarded himself a $10 million bonus for achievements in legal battles with Russia’s Gazprom.
NABU alleges that Kobolev overstated the financial benefit that he and other executives secured for the Ukrainian company, and consequently took unreasonably high level of compensation.
Divine Intervention at Work?
So how do we work with the field? We get to know ourselves. The most demanding part of self awareness is the mind must be known to itself. If the mind knows itself then the most important aspect of of self awareness has occurred as consciousness is the microcosm of the Oneness. In other words, the macrocosmic intelligence, the field, which guides the birth and processes of the universe is reflected on a microcosmic scale in each of us. As energetic beings, we are radiating positive and negative energy by our thoughts, emotions and actions, creating our reality with all its distortions and confusion.
To know yourself is the same message Jesus, Buddha, Lao Tzu, Krishna and many others have been trying to tell us through the centuries. Lao Tzu tells us “Wisdom come from knowing oneself. He who knows himself is enlightened”. In the dialogue of the Savior Jesus said “Those who have truly found the Self within recognized that it exists everywhere.” Buddha added, “Everyone has recognized the self-ones essential nature. But few have realized it.”
Our emotions are part of the field as we create our new world. We all have the divine gift of discernment, the act or process of exhibiting keen insight and good judgment. In its broadest sense, discernment is closely related to wisdom as an expression of God. Discernment alone can bring about a sense of balance between our physical and metaphysical worlds. We are all part of this creation, know yourself and realize we are the divine intervention.

Ex-Nazis in the service of Uncle Sam: How the US took control of Germany’s main intelligence service
“The United States still essentially occupies Germany, Japan, the Republic of Korea, and other countries. At the same time, it cynically calls them equal allies… What kind of cooperation is that?”. This question was posed by Russian President Vladimir Putin during his speech in the Kremlin on September 30, 2022, when agreements on the entry of the new regions into the Russian Federation were signed.
The Russian president did not go into further detail, but it’s hard to argue against his words. Western Europe’s strongest country, Germany, increasingly acts against its national interests. Berlin coordinates its foreign policy course with Washington not only at regular NATO and G7 summits, but also through more private channels. One of these is Germany’s foreign intelligence service, officially called the German Federal Intelligence Service (BND).
This department was created in the post-WWII years by former Nazis and SS officers as a private intelligence organization. Control over the service was entirely in the hands of the United States, and major intelligence operations were carried out in the US interest. Numerous journalistic investigations allow us to conclude that the situation has not changed much to this day.
RT recalls the history of German intelligence as one of the most loyal tools in the hands of the United States.
Officer, spy, Nazi
The history of “German intelligence” is inextricably linked with its founder Reinhard Gehlen. He was born on April 3, 1902, in Erfurt, Prussia, part of the German Empire, in the family of retired Oberleutnant Walter Gehlen. The family came from the Flemish aristocracy, where men traditionally served in the army.
Young Gehlen had every chance to break with family tradition – after the First World War, under the terms of the Treaty of Versailles, Germany was restricted from having military educational institutions.
Everything changed when Adolf Hitler came to power. Under his rule, Germany renewed its course toward militarization. One of the first steps was the restoration of military educational institutions, including the General Staff College. The future head of the BND was one of its first graduates.
In 1936, Gehlen was appointed an officer of the operational department of the German army’s “South” group, under the leadership of one of the top WWII generals, Erich von Manstein. This served as a springboard for his further military career. During the Second World War, Reinhard rose to the rank of Lieutenant General and became chief of military intelligence of the Supreme Command of the German Army’s Abteilung Fremde Heere Ost (FHO). In the war years, this structure collected large amounts of data on the technical, military, strategic and political intelligence of the Soviet Union.
In fact, Gehlen owed his brilliant military career entirely to Hitler’s Nazis.
In 1944, however, he was already aware of the regime’s dwindling prospects. As an ardent anti-communist, he decided to join one of the Western allies willing to pay good money for his services. The head of intelligence gave orders for numerous intelligence documents to be copied and hidden in waterproof barrels. These were then buried in various locations in the Austrian Alps.
It didn’t take long to find a buyer. In July 1943, the military department of the US Department of Defense formed the Department of Special Projects. This organization began developing a secret program for retraining German prisoners of war.
On April 5, 1945, a month before the surrender of Germany, the Lieutenant General along with his helpers, Gerhard Wessel and Hermann Bown, surrendered to the Americans, taking along Soviet-related intelligence collected during the war, and the best pro-American personnel.
Shortly before that, the Chief of Staff of the US Army, George Catlett Marshall Jr., agreed to study the archives of the Wehrmacht military formations on the Eastern front. Also in April 1945, an agreement was concluded between the intelligence services of Great Britain and the United States to study the experience of conducting military operations against the USSR. Gehlen, with his data and experience, had great timing.
Upon arrival in the United States, he was given the pseudonym Hans Holbein and issued a service certificate to conceal the fact that the US army was cooperating with SS members.
As a result of Gehlen’s agreement with the American government, starting in mid-September 1945, prisoners of war in a camp with the postal address P.O Box 1142, Fort Hunt, Virginia, USA began research work under his guidance. The project was code-named “B” (Bolero).
The Nazi theme club
According to information obtained from CIA archives, about 200 officers took part in the scheme from October 1945 to April 1946. The result of their work was a document numbering 3,657 pages, prepared for the governments of the United Kingdom, the US, and Canada.
In July 1946, Gehlen’s Bolero group was merged with another intelligence unit composed of former Nazis. This was Keystone, a service monitoring radio transmission on USSR-controlled European territory. It was headed by Herman Baun and located in Oberursel, Germany. The joint operation of these two groups was code-named Rusty, and their main task was to collect intelligence about the state of the USSR’s armed forces on European territories under its control.
A few months later, Gehlen and the US government agreed to create a full-fledged spy agency called The Gehlen Organization. He himself headed the organization, remaining its permanent leader until its abolition.
Some of the first people Gehlen recruited were SS and Gestapo officers who were issued false names and forged documents.
The CIA’s declassified archives have a dossier on one of the staff members, Heina Paul Johannes, who served in SS units and joined the organization under the name Karl Schuetz.
Among the first to join were SS-Obersturmfuhrers Frans Goring and Hans Sommer, and SS-Sturmfuhrer Herbert Stein.
Gehlen also took in Lieutenant General Friedrich Wilhelm von Mellenthin, former commander of the 4th Panzer Army; Major General Nichtke, who commanded divisions in Poland and Russia; Major General Rudolf Kleinkamp, who headed the personnel service of the Wehrmacht High Command; Lieutenant Colonel Heinz Gudernan; Colonel von Kretschmer, former military attaché in Tokyo; and other Wehrmacht soldiers.
The leading positions at the head of the groups were occupied by former SS officers whom Gehlen knew personally. Colonel Heinz Heer became the chief analyst; Colonel Ulrich Noack headed the research group on the USSR economy; Captain Blossfeldt led the interrogations.
The agents providing information to the organization consisted entirely of pro-Hitler citizens who participated in active hostilities during World War II on the side of Nazi Germany.
New activities of the former Nazis
Official registration data for The Gehlen Organization is missing for obvious reasons. We only know that it operated under different names: from 1949 to 1950 under the code name “Offspring”, from 1950 to 1951 as “Odeum”, and from 1951 to 1956 as “Zipper”.
The main activity of the organization was to obtain intelligence in the countries of Eastern Europe and the USSR.
On April 1, 1946, the new organization’s trial operations began and subsequently received a positive assessment from US representatives.
However, The Gehlen Organization’s first major operation was launched in 1947 and code-named “Aktion Hermes.” Its goal was to systematically interrogate hundreds of thousands of former German prisoners of war, who were beginning to return from Soviet camps where they were forced to participate in rebuilding the country.
The organization’s agents held permanent positions in the repatriation camps of Western zones, and then in Germany. Almost every repatriate – both soldier and civilian – was contacted by agents who asked him about where they were held and the factories where they worked. The agents were primarily interested in spies from the other side.
The main topics were the Soviet industry, armaments, telecommunications, and the population’s attitude toward the government.
When Gehlen’s agents discovered a marked increase in the production of tanks and military aircraft in the Soviet Union after 1945, the news troubled the US military, which received all the reports.
In May 1949, British intelligence also led “Operation Jungle”, the purpose of which was to prepare and dispatch sabotage detachments operating under the guise of national liberation movements into the Baltic republics and socialist Poland.
In the late 1940s, MI6 set up a special center in Chelsea, London, to train agents to be sent to the Baltic States. The operation was led by Henry Carr, director of the North European Department of MI6, and the head of the Baltic Branch, Alexander McKibbin.
The Gehlen Organization was tasked with selecting agents for the operation from among former Nazis.
Agents were transported to the Baltic States by sea under the cover of fictitious maritime transport company British Baltic Fishery Protection Service, which operated on a wartime high-speed military boat.
Officially, the company was engaged in protecting West German fishermen from “Soviet arbitrariness” at sea. The boats were modified (with weights reduced to increase speed).
To hide the British government’s involvement in case the boat was seized by the Soviet Navy, and the Gehlen Organization provided it with a German crew.
However, the USSR’s Ministry of State Security (MGB) was notified of the operation through its agents in Britain, and almost all of the 42 “Jungle” agents were arrested.
A celebration at whose expense?
In his memoirs, Gehlen wrote: “Until 1956, we did not have the opportunity to cover employees with state insurance, since formally, the employer did not exist.”
At the initial stage of The Gehlen Organization, Washington used it as a cell of its own army. It was the US army that took on the task of equipping the group of Nazi intelligence officers with technical tools ranging from typewriters to the necessary radio equipment.
The newly created institution was funded exclusively from the US budget, and the number of funds allocated, according to reports from various sources, ranged from $1.5 million to $3.4 million per year for 50 employees.
Additionally, the US Army supplied the organization with cash as well as consumer goods from its warehouses, which were exchanged on the black market for money, as barter goods, or used as payment.
In September 1946, the company received 160,000 cigarettes, 43,300 liters of gasoline, and approximately $50,000 from the US Army.
In the period from July to October 1948, 82,153 chocolate bars, 67,150 packs of cigarettes, 4,500 razor blades, and 1,815 pairs of wool socks intended for The Gehlen Organization were produced.
American journalist Mary Ellen Rees, in her book “General Reinhard Gehlen: The CIA Connection”, wrote:
“Gehlen’s quickly expanding organization was constantly in need of money. What the US army provided was not enough, and the “black market” became its main source of income. The system was equally effective and shameless. The army provided the organization with money for supplies, which the organization’s special teams sold on the “black market”. Following the deals, the Criminal Affairs Division of the US Army confiscated the goods on the grounds that they had illegally entered the “black market”, and again took them into its property, which then again ended up on the “black market”. After the currency reform in June 1948, when the new German mark was introduced, this profitable cycle became a question of survival. According to Gehlen, its purchasing power then decreased by 70 percent.”
In 1949, The Gehlen Organization became subordinate to the CIA and remained under its control until Germany established its own government, for which the organization proceeded to work.
Among the documents found in CIA archives was the organization’s payroll. At the time, the salary of each employee ranged from 500 to 900 US dollars.
From the early 1950s, the German economy financed the institution through an agency code-named the “Industrial Research Institute”.
In 1951, the organization received 600,000 Deutsche marks from partner companies Standart Elektrik AG, Rodenstock and Messerschmitt.
From 1954, monthly funding was provided by Bonn in the amount of 30,000 Deutsche marks. The money also came from the Federal Chancellor’s Reptilienfonds.
The birth of the German intelligence service
In June 1950, Gehlen expressed his views in favor of creating a West German foreign intelligence service to Hans Globke, the Secretary of State in the office of the Federal Chancellor, and in September of the same year, he spoke to the Federal Chancellor Konrad Adenauer himself.
His views eventually found support due to the changing situation in international politics.
In June 1950, the Korean War began, which made it clear that the “Cold War” could turn into real combat at any moment.
In divided Germany, two opposing social systems – communism and capitalism – stood literally opposite each other. The new war in Asia emphasized the vital need to collect information about the enemy and determined the course of intelligence priorities.
The conjuncture was on the side of military espionage – primarily against troops in Eastern Germany (“short-range intelligence”), as well as in Poland, Czechoslovakia, and other Eastern Bloc countries, including Yugoslavia and Albania (“deep intelligence”) and in the Soviet Union itself (“long-range intelligence”).
Intensive efforts to include The Gehlen Organization in the structure of the Federal Government and thus ensure its budgetary financing were crowned with success five years later, when on July 11, 1955, the Cabinet of Ministers finally decided to take control of the organization and subordinate it to the Office of the Federal Chancellor.
Less than a year later, on April 1, 1956, The Gehlen Organization was finally transformed into the BND, but its structure had not changed in any way. Gehlen himself remained the permanent head of intelligence for another 12 years.
There are no official figures or scientifically based independent data on how the number of BND employees changed since 1956. According to opinion generally accepted in the GDR, the number of employees doubled from 1,245 people in 1956 to 2,500 in 1963, then doubled again to five thousand in 1968, and in 1977 the BND employed 6,500 officials, employees, workers, and officers sent from the Bundeswehr.
Old habits under a new status
Although the BND formally became the sovereign intelligence service of a formally sovereign state, it continued to carry out tasks in the interests of the US government.
This is confirmed by an investigation of The Washington Post and the German channel ZDF.
The investigation references the documents of the CIA and the BND and states that for half a century from the 1950s onwards, the CIA in conjunction with the BND read the secret correspondence of the governments of 120 countries, receiving multimillion-dollar financial profits out of it. This was carried out through the Swiss firm Crypto AG, which produces encryption equipment.
There is much to suggest that the German intelligence agency continues to carry out its activities in the interests of the United States to this day.
For example, in 2015, the German newspaper Bild am Sonntag, referencing an electronic statement of the BND, reported that, by order of the US National Security Agency (NSA), the German intelligence organization collected information about Austria, using keywords such as bundesamt (federal agency), gov (government), diplo (diplomatic institutions, Foreign Ministry).
The publication had previously reported that the BND helped the National Security Agency to carry out espionage against members of the French government and the European Commission.
The intelligence service of any country is a sign of its sovereignty and a tool for solving state tasks subordinated to national interests.
Proceeding from the above, as well as from the history of such a strategically important agency as the BND, it may be reasonable to conclude that Germany is not fully sovereign at the moment.
Criminals at Work as the CDC Advisers Recommend Adding COVID-19 Vaccines to Childhood Immunization Schedule
Advisers to the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) on Oct. 20 recommended adding COVID-19 vaccines to the child and adolescent immunization schedules, despite the vaccines still being under emergency authorization for some children.
The Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) cast the vote during a meeting on updating the schedules for youth and adults.
All members voted to add the Moderna, Pfizer, and Novavax vaccines to the 2023 schedules, asserting that the vaccines, despite waning effectiveness, can still prevent severe disease.
“We view this as COVID is here to stay,” said Dr. Matthew Daley, one of the advisers. “When I think about the routine immunization schedule as a pediatrician, I think of it as an opportunity to prevent serious disease and death. And if something is added to the schedule, it’s because I feel like the benefits continue to strongly outweigh the risks.”
The Pfizer and Moderna bivalent boosters will also be added if ACIP’s advice is taken.
The CDC and partner groups review schedule recommendations from the ACIP. The American Academy of Family Physicians, one of the groups, said that it would review the ACIP’s recommendation.
The COVID-19 vaccines have proven increasingly ineffective against both infection and severe illness from newer virus variants. In addition, there is no evidence the vaccines protect against severe disease for children under 5. The clinical trials for that population weren’t powered to measure such efficacy. Further, the new bivalent boosters haven’t been tested in humans at all.
“I suppose we should not be surprised that the ACIP has voted to add it to the CDC’s recommended childhood vaccine schedule, even though it has not been fully licensed by FDA for use in children. The past three years has [sic] taught us that federal health officials have politicized the COVID vaccine development, licensing, and policymaking process and rubber-stamped the questionable science provided by pharmaceutical companies,” Barbara Loe Fisher, president and co-founder of the National Vaccine Information Center, told The Epoch Times in an email.
“Now it is up to parents to let their state legislators know they want vaccine informed consent protections in public health laws and are opposed being forced to give their children the COVID vaccine as a condition of attending school, receiving medical care or for any other reason.”
Advisers stressed before the vote that adding the vaccines to the schedules doesn’t in itself mean the vaccines will be mandated for school children. But laws in 31 states and the District of Columbia require the vaccines on the schedules to be taken by children for school attendance, according to the Policy, Practice, and Prevention Research Center at the University of Illinois Chicago’s School of Public Health. Some other states impose requirements that largely align with the schedules.
The COVID-19 vaccines are still under emergency use authorization for children aged 6 months to 11 years. No vaccines are available to children under 6 months of age. Lynn Bahta, a CDC adviser, asked whether it was allowed to add such a vaccine to the schedules.
“Before we brought this to the workgroup, we had a conversation about this with the Office of General Counsel and we’re told it’s OK to add it to the schedule,” Dr. Patricia Wodi, a CDC official, responded.
The Department of Health and Human Services’ Office of General Counsel and the Department of Justice Office of Legal Counsel didn’t respond to requests for comment. The Epoch Times has submitted Freedom of Information Act requests for communications between the offices and the CDC on the matter.

Pro-Ukrainian NAFO troll chief outed as ‘Nazi’
The Polish Twitter user behind the ‘NAFO’ phenomenon locked his account on Saturday after critics discovered his lengthy record of posts praising Nazi Germany, insulting Jews and denying the Holocaust. The troll-in-chief insists he posted the controversial material “to fit in.”
Kamil Dyszewski has received glowing praise in Western media for posting a crudely-edited Shiba Inu avatar to Twitter earlier this summer. The cartoon dog soon caught on, and pro-Ukrainian accounts began to display their own Shiba avatars and refer to themselves as ‘NAFO’, or the ‘North Atlantic Fellas Organization.’
Since then, the ‘Fellas’ can be found spreading Kiev’s talking points, ganging up to swarm polls and report pro-Moscow accounts, and soliciting donations for the Ukrainian military.
Questioned by some within his own ranks, Dyszewski locked his Twitter account on Saturday, but not before posting an explanation. Describing the controversial posts as “overly edgy and incredibly inappropriate ‘jokes,’” Dyszewski said that he made them “to fit in,” without explaining with whom he was attempting to fit in. He added that these posts, all made around 2020, “do not represent me as a person.”
While NAFO may have started with an offhand internet post by a Polish gamer, it has since grown into a internet-wide phenomenon, counting US Congressman Adam Kinzinger, Ukrainian Defense Minister Aleksey Reznikov, and a host of Western analysts, spies, and other members of the intelligence community as ‘Fellas.’
This member roll has led some critics to argue that NAFO is a creation of Western intelligence agencies. Similar pro-Ukrainian social media campaigns have previously been identified as relying on masses of ‘bot’ accounts.

Biden Promises Ukraine’s Zelenskyy Advanced Air Defense Systems After Russian Missile Attacks
The two leaders spoke on the phone shortly after Russia launched its largest air strike yet on Ukraine following the destruction of a bridge linking Russia to the annexed Crimean peninsula over the weekend. Russian President Vladimir Putin accused Ukraine’s security services of perpetuating the attack.
Russia’s strikes killed at least 11 civilians, Ukrainian officials said, and knocked out Ukraine’s power grid, leaving parts of the country with no electricity, water, or heat.
Thousands of residents were forced to shelter in bomb shelters throughout the day as missiles rained down on multiple cities, with explosions reported in Kyiv, Lviv, Ternopil, and Zhytomyr in western Ukraine, Dnipro, and Kremenchuk in the center, Zaporizhzhia in the south and Kharkiv in the east.
During Monday’s call, Biden “expressed his condemnation of Russia’s missile strikes across Ukraine, including in Kyiv, and conveyed his condolences to the loved ones of those killed and injured in these senseless attacks” according to a White House readout of the call.
“President Biden pledged to continue providing Ukraine with the support needed to defend itself, including advanced air defense systems,” the readout said.
“He also underscored his ongoing engagement with allies and partners to continue imposing costs on Russia, holding Russia accountable for its war crimes and atrocities, and providing Ukraine with security, economic, and humanitarian assistance,” the statement added.
The White House did not state exactly which air defense systems Biden said he will supply to Zelenskyy during their call but earlier this year, Washington committed to provide Ukraine with National Advanced Surface-to-Air Missile Systems (NASAMS)
Those anti-aircraft systems are manufactured by the Norwegian company Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace and used to protect the airspace around the White House and Capitol in Washington. They can be used to strike Russian cruise missiles.
‘Sign’ of Russian Weakness
Zelenskyy’s office also issued a statement on Monday detailing his phone call with Biden which stated that the Ukrainian president informed Washington about the “consequences of the massive missile strikes against civilian infrastructure perpetrated today by the Russian aggressor.”
Zelenskyy said the “strikes against civilian targets throughout Ukraine are a sign of weakness of the Russian army which is losing on the battlefield. It is pure terror” but that Ukraine “will not succumb to the Russian missile blackmail,” according to the statement.
Biden and Zelenskyy also discussed the “importance of air defense, and continued U.S. contributions to increase this capability” the statement adds.
Russia-Ukraine Conflict Escalates
The two leaders also discussed the “upcoming extraordinary meeting of the Group of Seven Leaders (G7) dedicated to Ukraine and most pressing measures of support for Ukraine which can be adopted by the international community,” according to Zelenskyy’s office.
In total, the Biden administration has committed a total of $15.8 billion in military aid to Ukraine since Russia invaded Ukraine on Feb. 24.
The latest promise of advanced air defense systems to Ukraine comes as its conflict with Russia continues to escalate.
On Monday, Belarusian President Alexander Lukashenko, one of Vladimir Putin’s closest allies, said that some of his country’s 60,000-strong army will deploy with Russian forces near Ukraine.
Lukashenko said the decision was made because Ukraine had been preparing to attack Belarus with help from allies Poland and Lithuania, although he did not provide any evidence relating to such claims.
“Strikes on the territory of Belarus are not just being discussed in Ukraine today, but are also being planned,” Lukashenko said at a meeting on security. “Their owners are pushing them to start a war against Belarus to drag us there.”
Following Lukashenko’s announcement, Polish citizens in Belarus were being advised by the government to leave the country as relations between the two countries increasingly turned sour.
