These are three examples of false information being spread about Rittenhouse, whose trial ended last week with his acquittal.
Prominent influencers, including lawmakers and reporters, are sources of some of the misinformation—possibly disinformation—leaving experts troubled.
On CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, reporter Mark Strassman falsely said Rittenhouse “drove in from Illinois armed for battle.” On CNN’s “Cuomo Prime Time” on Friday, Harvard University professor Cornell William Brooks falsely said Rittenhouse was carrying an AK-47. The Independent falsely reported late last week that Rittenhouse shot three black men.
Rittenhouse, 17 years old at the time, shot three men, two fatally, with an AR-15 in Kenosha, Wisconsin, on Aug. 25, 2020. All were white, as is Rittenhouse. The gun was bought by a friend and was picked up by the teenager, who resided in Illinois, from a home in Kenosha.
Rittenhouse claimed self-defense and the jury agreed, clearing him of all charges after video footage and witness testimony during the trial showed he was attacked by all of the men he shot.
“As soon as the Rittenhouse situation happened in Kenosha, the establishment media immediately created a narrative that would work with their particular, preferred narrative. As we now know, that led to a good many mischaracterizations and errors at that time,” Jeffrey McCall, a communications professor at DePauw University, told The Epoch Times in an email.
“By now, those media outlets are so committed to that narrative that they can’t drag themselves to correct previous errors or provide accurate details today. This not only reflects that some media outlets work with predetermined, ideological narratives, but that they are also too lazy to report facts as provided in the actual trial,” he added.
Ryan Chittum, a former journalist, and media critic with the Columbia Journalism Review, said that some of the legacy news outlets have done excellent journalism on the Rittenhouse case, including the New Yorker, “but it’s been like a few drops in a firehouse of tendentious, false, and often malicious press coverage intended to fit an ideological narrative.”
“On balance, the press has been a destructive force on this story, from its beginnings in the coverage of the Jacob Blake shooting that set the whole thing off and which we know was justified, to the downplaying of the $50 million in destruction done by rioters in Kenosha, to the libelous portrayal of Rittenhouse and the particulars of what happened,” he told The Epoch Times in a Twitter message. “There have been innumerable journalistic disasters in the Trump era, but this is the most blatantly reckless one of them all.”
Rittenhouse shot the men during riots that followed a police officer shooting Jacob Blake in the same city.
Blake was armed with a knife. Video footage showed he resisted arrest after visiting the home of an ex-girlfriend who had previously accused him of sexual assault. Prosecutors decided not to charge the officer in January because he appeared to act in self-defense and the Department of Justice last month announced it was closing a probe and filing no charges. The sexual assault charge was dropped last year.
Blake survived the shooting, though he is partially paralyzed. Some people falsely said last week that he died, including ESPN’s Jalen Rose and ABC’s Terry Moran.
“I misspoke and quickly corrected myself, on the air, as soon as I could. I apologize for the error,” Moran wrote on Twitter.
Rep. Sean Patrick Maloney (D-N.Y.), the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee, claimed Blake died and that he was unarmed.
The committee later sent out an updated statement from Maloney. “Apologies,” Chris Hayden, its communication director, wrote on Twitter.
The Maloney statement stood out to Jeffrey Blevins, a professor in the University of Cincinnati’s Department of Journalism who is working on a book about how misinformation is spread.
“I think a lot of times the political left tend to think that false information, fake news, misinformation, is something that is only attributable to the political right. And that’s just simply not the case,” Blevins told The Epoch Times.
While people with small followings may put forth misinformation, much more damage is done when higher-profile influencers such as lawmakers do.
“When we think about influencers—and politicians fit into this category, certainly the chair of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee—their official account would be seen as a credible source,” he said. “When they put something out like this, it tends to stick with people’s minds.”
The false claims have had the potential to reach tens of millions of people on Twitter, where they were spread far and wide. The ESPN, CBS, CNN, and ABC shows combined have millions of viewers.
Among those falling prey to the misinformation or dubious claims were two professors who have been cited by media outlets as experts in identifying it.
Lisa Fazio, a Vanderbilt psychology professor, shared a video of Amber Ruffin, who has her own show on NBC, making multiple false or evidence-free claims, including the assertion that Rittenhouse brought a rifle across state lines. That video has been watched over 7.7 million times since Nov. 19, getting boosted by the likes of Rep. Ilhan Omar (D-Minn.).
Shannon McGregor, a professor at the Hussman School of Journalism and Media at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, shared a tweet that called Rittenhouse “openly white supremacist,” a claim that has no evidence supporting it.
Blevins said the situation reminds him of what happened in 2019 when a brief, tightly edited video clip from Washington was disseminated widely by media and others.
Nick Sandmann, a Kentucky high school student, was in the nation’s capital with classmates. The clip was used to falsely state Sandmann confronted a Native American, Nathan Phillips, but video footage that later emerged showed the exact opposite was the case. Many media outlets issued corrections, and some paid Sandmann to settle defamation lawsuits.
The person who initially posted the clip had a small following, but it was widely spread, Blevins noted.
“People seem to be so eager to bring their hot take to social media, which is probably what happened in this case, and then you miss important pieces of context, and it can really do some damage,” he said.
Blevins encouraged people to be more cautious, recalling what he did when the clip initially emerged. He waited, instead of sharing it or posting about it, knowing that in the past unconfirmed material was spread wildly but was later shown to be incorrect.
CBS couldn’t be reached. ESPN declined to comment. Twitter, CNN, Brooks, The Independent, Fazio, McGregor, and Omar did not respond to requests for comment.

Some iconic pillars of the president’s agenda mentioned in the list are over 450 miles of new border wall, over $2.2 trillion in military spending, and a rebuilding of the judiciary system.
With help from the GOP’s majority in the Senate, Trump successfully installed three conservative-leaning justices in the Supreme Court and appointed over 230 federal judges and 54 judges to various courts of appeals.
The list also highlights Trump’s upholding of religious freedom in the United States and globally, including “imposed restrictions on certain Chinese officials, internal security units, and companies” for their complicity in persecuting members of religious groups in China.
The White House document appears to indicate that Trump is preparing to leave the White House after a long fight over election integrity.

Trump toned down the vehement challenges against the November election results after most legal channels were exhausted at different levels of state and federal courts and the breach of the Capitol on Jan. 6.
Some protesters stormed the Capitol when Congress was counting the electoral votes.
The breach happened as hundreds of thousands of Trump supporters rallied in the District of Columbia.
The composition of the protesters who broke in is still being determined. According to various court filings, those being charged have been identified and associated with both right and left-wing groups.

The Gospel of Thomas presented 114 secret saying of Jesus, discovered in 1945 in a cave in upper Egypt with many other Gnostic manuscripts. The text have been untouched by man for nearly 2000 years, perhaps for good 
reason. Some of the references and parallels sayings can be found in the New Testament. Jesus’ message is different from the church teachings. Instead of sin and repentance, it is love, enlightenment and look within and know yourself. In the very beginning of this wonderful text, we are told whoever understands and learns the meaning of these saying will not experience death. Jesus spoke in parables with a metaphysical and even mystical understanding with deeper 
meaning than we have been taught or even understood. Jesus was a Master, a teacher, telling us we all have the power within us known as the Christ Consciousness. Even in the New Testament Jesus tells us we can do the same works as he, even greater. In John 14:12, he said Very truly I tell you, whoever believes in me will do the works I have been doing, and they will do even greater things than these, because I am going to the Father.
In saying (20) The disciples said to Jesus, “Tell us what the kingdom of heavens resembles.” He said to them, “What it resembles is a grain of mustard seed. It is smaller than all other seeds, but if it falls upon plowed terrain it puts forth an enormous foliage and is a shade for birds of heaven. A similar parable can be found in Matthew 13:31-42 .
Consider our faith or belief system is represented by the mustard seed. It 
comes to us from Universal Intelligence through the Christ within, the Christ Consciousness. We are all born with this great seed. As we experience life, it is up to each individual to cultivate and grow this great power within by accepting love and compassion into our lives. Many may refer to this great power as the Holy Spirit, perhaps the emotions of Infinite Intelligence. All of our lives are full of trial and tribulations, but those experiences are our way to grow, much like the mustard seed. We call it God in expression, through the Christ in us. In saying 3 Jesus said When you know yourselves, then you will be known, and you will know that you are the sons of the living Father. But if you do not know yourselves, then you are in poverty, and you are poverty.
In saying (21) Mary said to Jesus, “Whom are your disciples like?”
He said, “They are like children who have settled in a field which is not theirs. When the owners of the field come, they will say, ‘Let us have back 
our field.’ They (will) undress in their presence in order to let them have back their field and to give it back to them. Therefore I say, if the owner of a house knows that the thief is coming, he will begin his vigil before he comes and will not let him dig through into his house of his domain to carry away his goods. You, then, be on your guard against the world. Arm yourselves with great strength lest the robbers find a way to come to you, for the difficulty which you expect will (surely) materialize. Let there be among you a man of understanding. When the grain ripened, he came quickly with his sickle in his hand and reaped it. Whoever has ears to hear, let him hear.”
Perhaps Jesus is describing the human condition, most unaware they are the 
divine spark of God or that mustard seed. Humanity as a whole accepts what they are told, provoking mostly negative thoughts and emotions. We all have to be on guard or we will be robbed of our divine right. If we believe difficulty will come, then it will materialize. Again our thoughts, emotions and actions create our reality. Those who understand this think independently will not fear death and are often taken young because they are ready. In the New Testament verses in Luke 12:39-40, Luke 11:21-22, Matt 24:37-44, Matt 12:29, Mark 3:27, and Mark 4:26-29, are similar sayings in the New Testament.
(22) Jesus saw some infants at the breast. He said to his disciples: These 
little ones at the breast are like those who enter into the kingdom. They said to him: If we then be children, shall we enter the kingdom? Jesus said to them: When you make the two one, and when you make the inside as the outside, and the outside as the inside, and the upper side as the lower; and when you make the male and the female into a single one, that the male be not male and the female female; when you make eyes in the place of an eye, and a hand in place of a hand, and a foot in place of a foot, an image in place of an image, then shall you enter [the kingdom].
Jesus is saying every child is born perfect. Not only here but in the New Testament in verses Luke 9:46-48, Luke 18:15-17, Matt 18:1-4, Matt 19:13-15, John 3:1-10, Mark 9:33-37, and Mark 10:13-16. Every child born has the spark or seed of the Christ Consciousness and is perfect. Only the thoughts of humanity can lower that perfection.
So why does the Church teach us we are born sinful when Jesus teaches we are born perfect? Original sin is an 
Augustine Christian doctrine that says that everyone is born sinful. This means that we are born with the urge to do negative things and to disobey God. It is an important doctrine within the Roman Catholic Church. The Church also teaches that baptism removes original sin which stains all souls since the fall from grace in the Garden of Eden. It appears the Church teaching is contrary to Jesus’ teaching.
The remaining part of the saying is addressing our thoughts, feelings and actions which should be positive, loving and compassionate. Each female has a masculine side and each male has a feminine side. When we understand we are not female or male we have truly found our true selves and have cultivated our Christ Consciousness. It is a true power we all have within each of us. We all have the ability to cultivate and grow our Christ Consciousness as well as our Buddha nature. Both men were telling us what has been lost 
over the centuries, that we and only we can find that divine spark and be just like them and be one with God.
The Law of One confirmed that belief, that we are all one and even tells us that if we are 51 percent positive in all our thoughts, emotions and actions we will ascend to our next journey, what many call heaven. There was also discussion about Jesus. Jesus was quick to anger and at a young age he killed a young boy by simply touching him. He was so unsettled by this experience, he began a lifetime of seeking and searching. Jesus studied day and night in its own religious constructs, Judaism and was learned enough to be a rabbi at a very young age. Around the age of thirteen he left his 
family and walked to many other places seeking further information. This went on sporadically until the entity was approximately twenty-five, at which time it returned to its family dwelling, and learned and practiced the art of its earthly father. When Jesus had become able to integrate and synthesize all experiences, he began to teach others of the things of a worthwhile nature. Apparently all his disciples were crucified except John, who is thought to have died in 100 AD of old age.
The Church has distorted Jesus message and teachings and that is why it is 
important for each to read and decide for themselves the truth. There is truth in the Bible and other sacred texts but one must use discernment, our God given gift and be aware of the methods used to control us. There are other Masters and teachers in the world today that are able to heal and do the same feats as Jesus. We can as well, but we have to believe and reprogram ourselves in our own way. Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind.

Sacred Geometry was traditionally restricted to the priesthood. The general belief behind sacred 
geometry is that geometry and mathematical ratios, harmonics and proportions are also found in music, light, and cosmology. Now sacred Geometry is for all to see, but why aren’t we seeing it on mainstream media?
Crop circles are sacred geometry left in fields of crops all over the world. It is a message to humanity. They appear to be created by what we know as orbs, a spherical light body. Sacred architecture can be seen in religious and government 
buildings all over the world. This value system is seen as widespread even in ancient times.
The basic laws of the universe may seem simple, but because our senses are limited, we can’t grasp them. There is a pattern in creation. The patterns are everywhere, pine cones, sunflowers, pineapples, and cacti, they all have a double spiral structure that will allow the smaller elements, such as seeds, to pack themselves closely and 
efficiently. If you look at the center of a sunflower you will see the seeds line up in crisscrossing spirals that radiate from the center. You can count the number of spirals turning in each direction, and these will always be Fibonacci numbers. A tree outside whose roots search beneath the ground for water, or a flower which sends its sweet smell to the pollinating bees, or even our own bodies and the power within that drive us to act, we can see that we all dance to a mysterious tune. A melody of pure energy, Universal Infinite Intelligence, beyond our comprehension, encompassing all.
Just as children must learn to read, write, and speak a language in order to function in the world, we are at a stage of spiritual evolution where we must learn to read, write, and speak the pattern language of creation. As children learn to read one letter at a time, so can we learn to read the “book 
of nature” one shape or pattern at a time. And as children learn to connect letters together to form meaning through words, sentences, and entire books, so can we learn to read how nature unites multiple patterns to create all beings, structures, and processes of the world.
Sacred geometry is found throughout the entire universe and can be seen everywhere in the natural world. Even our own bodies are made up of this mathematical equation which connects all living things in the universe.
It is a universal language that describes the inner workings of nature and the intrinsic order of the universe. It is the natural sanction that unites all forms of life; from microbes, plants, animals and humans to the motions of the planets and universe. It shows the quality of relatedness between unique and individual differences and demonstrates how diverse elements can be organized into a whole yet so much beyond our understanding.
Perhaps the message Jesus left us in Luke could provide insight:
No one lights a lamp and covers it with a jar or puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it on a lampstand, so those who enter can see the light. For there is nothing hidden that will not be revealed, and nothing concealed that will not be known and illuminated. Pay attention, therefore, to how you listen. Whoever has will be given more, but whoever does not have, even what he thinks he has will be taken away from him.

Albert Einstein: A human being is a part of the whole, called by us Universe, a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts and feelings as something separated from the rest-a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest to us. Our task must be to free from this prison by widening our circle of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole nature in its beauty.
