This talk was given at a local TEDx event, produced independently of the TED Conferences. “Are you your own healer” says Shamini Jain, who invites us to discover the hidden possibilities of healing from a scientific and spiritual point of view. Dr. Shamini Jain is a psychologist, scientist, and social entrepreneur. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Psychiatry at UC San Diego, where she is also Chair of the Center for Integrative Medicine’s Research Committee. Dr. Jain is also the Founding Director of the Consciousness and Healing Initiative, a collaborative effort that links scientists, practitioners, entrepreneurs, and educators to facilitate personal and planetary healing through an understanding of consciousness and consciousness-based practices.
Nirvana, enlightenment, Christ Consciousness, many words used to describe a state of higher consciousness a state of loving all. Becoming one with all, stepping beyond our own human limits and rising to our spiritual level which has no boundaries. Measly words created by man can barely describe that of which we know and understand, trying to use those same words to describe that of which exists only in faith, only within ones self can never convey it to a level of understanding that will come on an intellectual level. That however is where the fun begins.
It’s called the “veil”. Such as the bride who hides behind the veil to only be exposed at the time of unity – the uniting of two to become one. Same holds true with the “veil” that each of us live behind as a spiritual being living a human experience. The “veil” only to be dropped when we have reached the unity of oneness with our One Creator. When we reach the acceptance of Love, that it is not just what we do or how we feel, it is who we are. Love is all, it’s oneness; it is the very reason for our existence.
Spirituality has been described as that of which is revealed in the silence when looking within ones self to understand the true message given to mankind throughout the ages in sacred texts. Silence…., who hears anything in the silence, isn’t that in itself contradictory? Silence is defined as having no audible sound, to hear nothing according to the dictionary.
Therein lies the challenge, how does one find the silence within? There’s so much noise today, not just on the outside but within us. We worry about finances, love, family, health, politics, we worry about worrying. Our minds don’t stop long enough to hear silence, we are constantly thinking about whats next, family, friends, chores, trips, health and life. Most of us can’t even hear ourselves speak.
In Greek during biblical days, the word silence meant to keep peace. Therefore; when one keeps peace within themselves – within the silence, the truth is revealed. Much like the varying definitions of the word silence, each of us will also have varying definitions as it applies to us. Silence doesn’t always mean a clear, empty mind, sometimes it may just be observed as a peacefulness within. There is no right or wrong way to reflect upon ones own image, peeling back the layers of what we not only hide from others but hide from ourselves.
The search within is a catalyst for most, if not all along the spiritual path. Searching and listening for the silence, waiting for that noticeable change within. The change begins the minute we opt to pursue the path of spirituality, the minute our mind accepts things aren’t as they seem. We notice subtle changes in our thought process. However; for some this is the point that seems to lead to frustration, and for some a hesitation to continue along the path. A feeling of inferiority, a feeling of failure, these feelings are normal, they are a part of the path. That is the voice we hear in the silence, its not telling us to condemn and judge ourselves its showing us the areas we must focus on and bring into balance. We all struggle and stumble within the silence. Struggle to understand the message, and stumbling by judging our self. The silence can become stronger when we have no level of expectation, but simply an acceptance and love for our self. Loving and accepting of ones self is the ultimate catalyst for spiritual growth, without the love of our self how do we love our neighbors as our self?
Spiritual growth is why we are here. It is a lifetime endeavor of seeking the truth and to know our. We live in a world that is not what it seems and the physical and metaphysical worlds are inseparable. There is a vibrating constant energetic motion within all things . We are energetic beings radiating positive and negative energy with our thoughts, emotions and actions creating our reality, and our unruly minds control it. There are distortions and confusions that add to the unruliness. We have been programmed since birth regarding our belief systems. There are 7 billion people in this world radiate energy and we as a collective, created our world.
Spiritual growth is listening and trusting your higher- self. We all have guides or angels if we pay attention. We all have the gift of discernment or intuition, we just have to learn to trust ourselves.
Daily, even if it is just five minute will help calm the mind and in time, provide a path the the . There is no one method of meditation better than another. Buddha said “Meditation brings wisdom; lack of mediation leaves ignorance. Know well what leads you forward and what holds you back, and choose the path that leads to wisdom.”
Once a person realizes the divine energetic field they begin to experience the energy fields of nature including plants, animals and humans. You feel more love and compassion to all living things. As you grow, so will your awareness, your purpose and understanding. The Chinese sage Lao Tzu “ A journey of a thousand miles must begin with a single step.”
Secret sayings and the may provide additional insight and understanding for those who are interested.
Our perception and understanding of God is based on our religious beliefs and upbringing. The belief system we are born into is normally where we stay. It will vary from person to person.
I try to imagine and comprehend the magnitude of the Infinite Divine Energy we have named God. I abandoned the concept of the judgemental God of the Abrahamic religions years ago and consider God’s Divine Energy encompasses all and love as the life pulse. We are all players in the game of life and may have a bigger impact on our world than we will ever know. It is always a challenge when reading sacred texts, realizing man has has somehow tampered with most. The purpose is either one of control or an effort to explain something more clearly. Either way we are here to figure it out for ourselves and the answer may be within each of us, just a heartbeat away.
I remember I was having doubts about my spiritual journey, and just wanted confirmation, something to give me a sign to continue. So one day last year in 2018, there was little or no chance of rain. During meditation I just wanted some evidence because sometimes the spiritual path is a lonely journey. I asked for rain, any amount for that day, just to let me know I was not alone. Afterwards, about 30 minutes later, I was sitting outside. Nothing was really happening. Then clouds started to form, which was not a big deal. Then a little thunder and few drops of rain started coming down. I felt indescribable joy. It really was happening. Then it started to rain and it rained five inches in 30-45 minutes. The news reported a cloudburst happened in a one square mile area and I was at the center.
We live in physical and metaphysical worlds, inseparable yet most of the time we realize only the physical. How many times have you spoken to God, perhaps in a prayer or meditation or just a discussion, and something happened based on that conversation. At first we may rule it a coincidence, but we have to remember we are an inseparable part of the Universal Consciousness . We are limited in the physical world by our five senses; see, feel, hear, taste and smell. Our metaphysical world is unseen or under the veil. Awareness of the metaphysical world, the unseen world, is helpful in understanding the Divine Energy that encompasses all. Our physical world is shaped by the positive and negative energy of our thoughts, emotions and actions. When we look at the physical world in isolation, we miss much of what is happening not only to the universe but within ourselves. Perhaps that is where we find God, that Divine Spark or energy in each of us; part of the Divine Universal Energy, Universal Consciousness.
God is just a heartbeat away and you can have a conversation anytime you choose. Trusting God is trusting yourself. Realize who you are; know you are part of this creation in your every thought, emotion and action.
We have heard of different fad diets such as south beach, vegan, ketogenic, paleo, and intermittent fasting to name just a few. Fasting has been of spiritual importance in most major religions, including Hinduism, Christianity, Islam and Judaism. Mahatma Gandhi referred to fasting as the “the truest prayer.” He conducted fasts throughout his life for religious and political reasons.
Interestingly, I discovered a group called the Breatharians. They claim to stop eating and live off prana, a Sanskrit word that translates to “life air” or “life force, ” also known as qi from the Chinese traditions. It has been reported that two people have proven under scientific scrutiny and video surveillance that they can live without food or water for periods of time defying the laws of physics. This 8 minuteYogi Prahlad Jani, who has not taken food or water for 70 years, a phenomena that many find hard to believe.
According to Israeli author, once Breatharians have trained their body to absorb this energy there is no longer any dependency on food. Many of them continue to taste food for enjoyment, but do not need it for survival.
Like everything today, each has to evaluate and determine the truth for themselves. Apparently breatharianism is about our life force also known as the source, the field, matrix or God. Science identifies the energy as a electromagnetic energy field. The sun radiates electromagnetic waves and sunlight is something we cannot live without. Light is the food for all life on earth. The human body, according to the, is basically composed of colors. We believe insufficient sunlight will result in low Vitamin D deficiencies, leading to the development of prostate and breast cancer, memory loss, and an increased risk for developing dementia and schizophrenia. We have been told to wear sunscreen to protect ourselves but what is really
We are light beings withand the energy of the sun has the of the rainbow. Every creature and plant on earth is engulfed in light that affects its health conditions. Spiritual healing and our health go hand in hand.
Can we live without food? Personally, I would have a hard time but there may be some that can. I also believe there are no limitations to our abilities once we calm our unruly minds and realize our thoughts, emotions and actions create our reality. The world is not as it seems and certainly not what we have been taught. Our physical and metaphysical world are inseparable and we all have the ability to tap into the power within. Believe!!!
I was asked which is more likely; the existence of aliens or the existence of God? To me the answer is obvious. It is one of the same.
We have been brainwashed into thinking religious systems have the answers to many unknown questions. Who are aliens, who are we and why are we here and of course, the God question. Going back to the beginning inman was made in his image. Consider the image to be pure unknowable energy, universal love and light. Man in all his wisdom, decided that God, which is just a label for us to comprehend, must be a supreme being, that looks like us. For discussion purposes, let’s make a label transition from God to Infinite Intelligence.
Besides the control of the masses by religion, another problem is language. Based on what we know, it was a barrier created at theMy dear friend , PhD in Linguistics, and I have many discussions regarding language. He said we have to understand each person has an emotional connection to words and phrases, and they are different from person to person; languages do not map the same with words and grammatical associations and idioms and cultural connotations. It is easy to have misunderstandings, not only in our own language, but in world languages.
We live in a world where the physical and metaphysical worlds are inseparable. Our Essence never dies and our goal is to connect back to the source, Infinite Intelligence. Take religion out and look to the message.spoke of love, meditation, the way, Krishna, , all to prepare us to understand our true power. According to the we are energetic beings just beginning to understand the each of us. This is not about religion or belief systems, it about each of us being in the school of life. We like children in school and have to clear away all the clutter in our belief systems and learn anew. We have free-will to choose. If anyone wants to look for aliens and the definition of God, the is a good place to start.
Albert Einstein Quotes
My religion consists of a humble admiration of the illimitable superior spirit who reveals himself in the slight details we are able to perceive with our frail and feeble mind.
Everyone who is seriously involved in the pursuit of science becomes convinced that a spirit is manifest in the laws of the Universe-a spirit vastly superior to that of man, and one in the face of which we with our modest powers must feel humble.
Over 5000 years ago the ancient Chinese masters of esoteric healing understood everything is composed of energy they called Chi or Qi. They observed there is a oneness and wholeness in all existence connected to one body. Traditional Chinese Medicine is primarily based on the understanding of the transformation of Qi.
Qi is vibrating in constant energetic motion within all things. It is our essence called by many different names in different cultures of the world. The ancient Chinese mastered specific techniques to balance the body’s energy in order to live in harmony with the earth. Qi within the body in the form of energetic pools I refer to as Chakras. From Chakras, the body’sor life force energy, flows in streams from the body’s vessels, channels and collateral systems.
The Chinese believe Qi has mass, the same as smoke or vapor, and can manifest within the body through three primary levels.
(1) Physically as matter through the body’s cells and tissues in the form of marrow, blood and body fluid.
(2) Energetically as Resonant vibration through heat, sound, light and electromagnetic fields.
(3) Spiritually as Divine light, energetically manifesting through subtle vibrations which extend through infinite space.
The ancient Chinese believed that all life emerged from the Dao’s eternal existence and would someday dessove back into its infinite light. The Tao, the “Way” can be translated both as a spiritual approach to the Divine, or as the infinitely subtle realm and presence of the Divine underlying all things. According to ancient Chinese esoteric teachings, the energetic vibration and light pertaining to the Tao, the Divine is imprinted in every particle and that whatevers exist of creation is simply an expression and manifestation of the Divine. The Law of One mentions vibration 293 times and light 465 , expressed in the same concept as the ancient Chinese but with much understanding and detail how our body mind spirit works.
Qi has two main expressions, an outward and inward flow known as yin and yang. This can be cultivated with Chi gong, yoga, Tai Chi exercises which may increase your positive energy and your overall well-being.
Once a person wakes up to the divine energetic field they begin to experience the energy fields of nature including plants, animals and humans. As you grow, so will your awareness, your purpose and understanding. You will realize the physical world and metaphysical world are inseparable.
We are energetic beings just beginning to understand the power within each of us. This shortwill provide some understanding of the power of Qi, but I would not recommend trying it yourself.
