“You’re quite focused on smallholder farmers because the predominant number of Africans farming today are smallholder farmers and they’re on pieces of land that are less than two hectares. So it’s quite a small farm. There are agro dealers that exist in these countries. We need to get that network up and running just like we’ve got the vaccine network up and running and getting vaccines out, getting up and running so they’re teaching people proper planting, proper fertilize, proper irrigation and getting them new seeds as they come out.

Davos Elites See Potential Return of Trump as Threat to Global Order

A major news item from across the Atlantic stole the spotlight at this year’s annual summit in Davos, Switzerland, where the world’s wealthiest and most powerful people gathered to address global challenges.

Former President Donald Trump’s record-setting victory in Iowa on Jan. 15 became the talk of the town at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in the Alpine ski village. According to some observers, the question of his potential return to the White House dominated conversations at dinners and parties throughout the summit, overshadowing even the most pressing global issues.

Thousands of global elites, including CEOs, bankers, and policymakers, gathered in Davos for the 54th annual WEF meeting from Jan. 15 to 19. Among the attendees, European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde was openly critical of the former president.

“We are all concerned about it because the United States is the largest economy, the largest defense country in the world, and has been a beacon of democracy, with all its upside and downside,” she said when asked about the upcoming U.S. election during an interview with Bloomberg on Jan. 17.

“We have to be extremely attentive.”

Ms. Lagarde, who served as the head of the International Monetary Fund, described President Trump as a clear “threat” to Europe during a recent interview with France 2, because of his stance on tariffs, NATO, and climate change.

On the last day of the summit, she suggested that the most effective strategy for Europe to prepare for a possible Trump return is to go on the offensive.

“The best defense, if that’s the way we want to look at it, is attack,” she said during a panel discussion on Jan. 19. “To attack properly, you need to be strong at home. So being strong means having a strong, deep market, having a real single market.”

Philipp Hildebrand, former head of the Swiss central bank and current vice chairman of BlackRock, expressed similar views on the upcoming U.S. election.
“You know, we’ve been there before; we survived it, so we’ll see what it means,” Mr. Hildebrand told Bloomberg in Davos. “Certainly, from a European perspective, from a kind of globalist, Atlanticist perspective, it’s of course a great concern.”
Gordon Brown, former prime minister of the UK, expressed similar sentiments. “I’m worried about the threat of a Trump presidency,” he told CNBC at the Swiss ski resort on Jan. 17. “He says he could solve the Ukraine–Russia problem in a day. But if the Ukraine–Russia problem is solved at the expense of Ukraine and is seen as a victory for Putin, then the blow to European self-confidence will be absolutely massive.”image-5571507

Campaign Benefit?

Concerns about the former president’s possible return to the White House extended beyond Davos.

Guy Verhofstadt, a former Belgian prime minister and a current member of the European Parliament, voiced similar concerns following President Trump’s Iowa victory.

“Republicans sending a message to the world: democracy fighting for survival… Window closing for Europe too,” he wrote in a post on social media platform X on Jan. 16.

Richard Dearlove, former head of the UK’s secret intelligence service, recently said that the reelection of President Trump could present a “political threat” to the UK and NATO.

“You have to add a political threat, which I am worried about, which is Trump’s reelection … which I think, for the UK’s national security, is problematic,” he told Sky News on Jan. 14. “Because if Trump, as it were, acts hastily and damages the Atlantic alliance, that is a big deal for the UK.”

President Trump frequently voiced his concerns about NATO’s heavy dependence on the United States and urged member nations to increase their contributions to defense spending.

Brian Seitchik, a Republican strategist and former Trump campaign staff member, said he believes that statements made by “global elites” at the Davos meeting could benefit the former president’s campaign.

“Like it or not, they’re not Trump fans. They never have been, and they never will be,” Mr. Seitchik told The Epoch Times.

“People talking about climate change and preaching their worldview of climate change while taking private planes to an exclusive European city is not really what key swing voters in Georgia, Michigan, Pennsylvania, and Arizona are particularly focused on these days.”

Jamie Dimon Praises Trump

During a rather unexpected moment in Davos, Jamie Dimon, the CEO of JPMorgan, stirred the pot by giving a nod to former President Trump’s policies and urging Democrats to reconsider their approach to “MAGA” Republicans.

“I wish the Democrats would think a little more carefully when they talk about MAGA,” he said on Jan. 17 during an interview with CNBC in Davos.

“I think this negative talk about MAGA is going to hurt Biden’s election campaign.”

Mr. Dimon’s comments came two days after the former president outperformed his GOP rivals in the Iowa caucuses.

“Take a step back, be honest. He was kind of right about NATO and kind of right on immigration. He grew the economy quite well. Trade and tax reform worked. He was right about some of China,” Mr. Dimon said.

“He wasn’t wrong about some of these critical issues, and that’s why they voted for him.”

In November 2023, Mr. Dimon, who donates primarily to the Democratic Party, urged everyone, including Democrats, to support Republican presidential candidate Nikki Haley for the GOP nomination, claiming she would be a stronger alternative to the former president.

Mike O’Sullivan, former chief investment officer at Credit Suisse, said he believes that European governments and corporate leaders are “rightly worried” about a second Trump term.

Mr. O’Sullivan served as a member of the World Economic Forum’s Council on the New Economy. He is also the author of “The Levelling: What’s Next After Globalization,” a book that discusses how globalization has come to an end and is giving way to a new values-driven global order.

“Trump has a higher chance of becoming president than he did at the same time in his first campaign,” Mr. O’Sullivan told The Epoch Times in an email.

“Governments and companies are rightly worried about how he could undermine the rule of law, democracy, and America’s unique financial status,” he said.

However, the mood among U.S. business leaders who attended the forum was very different; some privately dismissed the concerns raised by Europeans.

“He’s going to win the presidency,” one U.S. bank CEO told CNBC. “Many of his policies were right.”

Another prominent business leader privately stated that Europeans lack an understanding of the checks and balances built into the U.S. government.

“It’s right to be cautious, but it won’t be the end of the world,” he said.

Trump’s Davos Speech

During his term, President Trump traveled to Davos twice, in 2018 and 2020, to attend the WEF meetings. In his keynote address in 2020, he touted his protectionist trade policies and the United States’ position as the world’s largest oil and gas producer.

He also openly expressed his skepticism toward climate change, taking aim at what he called “alarmists” and “radical socialists.”

“We must reject the perennial prophets of doom and their predictions of the apocalypse. They are the heirs of yesterday’s foolish fortune-tellers,” President Trump said.

He went on to highlight historical examples of false predictions, such as the overpopulation crisis in the 1960s, mass starvation in the 1970s, and the forecasted end of oil in the 1990s. He characterized these incorrect forecasts as the work of “alarmists” who relentlessly chase power.

“These alarmists always demand the same thing: absolute power to dominate, transform, and control every aspect of our lives,” he said. “We will never let radical socialists destroy our economy, wreck our country, or eradicate our liberty.”

His speech met with mixed reactions, but it particularly enraged some of the elite, most notably Klaus Schwab, the forum’s founder and executive chairman.

WEF Under Fire

Mr. Schwab, a German economist and professor, established the WEF in 1971 with the aim of advancing stakeholder capitalism, which advocates that corporations serve the interests of all their stakeholders rather than solely focusing on shareholders.

Over the years, the WEF has evolved into a globally recognized forum for dialogue. It focuses on issues it says are pressing global challenges—such as the so-called climate crisis, poverty, wealth inequality, food security, and pandemics—and brings together the public and private sectors.

In recent years, however, the forum has increasingly faced criticism, with questions raised regarding the usefulness of its debates in resolving the struggles of regular people.

The climate is a prominent topic at Davos, and attendees’ use of private jets has drawn accusations of hypocrisy. Further, inviting individuals with questionable human rights records has raised concerns about the forum’s credibility.

Ford O’Connell, a political analyst and Republican strategist, said that global elites in Davos don’t care about the hardships experienced by American workers.

“The disinterest of most global elites in American prosperity or the struggles of the working class is evident,” he told The Epoch Times.

“Their opinions hold little relevance to everyday Americans living paycheck to paycheck, and they will have minimal influence on U.S. voters in the upcoming 2024 presidential election.”

Argentina’s president, Javier Milei, chose to fly commercial to Davos for the summit, where he openly criticized the event’s “socialist” agenda in his keynote address.

“Today, I’m here to tell you that the Western world is in danger. And it is in danger because those who are supposed to have to defend the values of the West are co-opted by a vision of the world that inexorably leads to socialism and thereby to poverty,” the newly elected libertarian president told the Davos crowd on Jan. 17.

Kevin Roberts, president of The Heritage Foundation, a Washington-based conservative think tank, also criticized the forum’s agenda during a panel discussion in Davos on Jan. 18 and called on future Republican administrations to reject all WEF proposals. “The very reason that I’m here at Davos is to explain to many people in this room and who are watching, with all due respect, nothing personal, but that you’re part of the problem,” he said.

Mr. Roberts defended the former U.S. president and argued that global elites have misinformed the average person about issues such as illegal immigration, the climate, and public safety.

After Iowa

The Jan. 15 Iowa Republican caucus results were hardly unexpected but still drew considerable attention both in the United States and globally.

“Trump achieved a historic and decisive victory in the Iowa caucuses, breaking records for the largest margin of victory by a Republican candidate,” Mr. O’Connell said. “The race was called just 31 minutes after voting began, emphasizing the strength of his triumph.”

Former Vice President Al Gore, however, cautioned against overemphasizing the importance of the Iowa vote. Mr. Gore, who narrowly missed the presidency in 2000, emphasized the potential for surprises in elections.

“There have been so many examples—last time in 2016, Ted Cruz won the Iowa caucus, and then it mattered not a whit. We’ve seen others win the Iowa caucus on the Republican side and then disappear,” he told Bloomberg in Davos.

“Something tells me this may be a year of significant surprises. I hope it’s the case because I don’t want to see him re-nominated and reelected,” Mr. Gore said.

Mr. Seitchik predicted that if President Trump secured a victory in New Hampshire on Jan. 23, regardless of the margin, that would be a decisive outcome.

Given the differences in voter demographics between New Hampshire and Iowa, winning both critical states “would solidify the reality that he has complete control of the Republican Party,” he said.

Trillions Spent on ‘Climate Change’ Based on Faulty Temperature Data, Climate Experts Say

January 29, 2024

Updated:

January 29, 2024
To preserve a “livable planet,” the Earth can’t warm more than 1.5 degrees Celsius above pre-industrial levels, the United Nations warns. Failure to maintain that level could lead to several catastrophes, including increased droughts and weather-related disasters, more heat-related illnesses and deaths, and less food and more poverty, according to NASA.
To avert the looming tribulations and limit global temperature increases, 194 member states and the European Union in 2016 signed the U.N. Paris Agreement, a legally binding international treaty with a goal to “substantially reduce global greenhouse gas emissions.” After the agreement, global spending on climate-related projects increased exponentially.
In 2021 and 2022, the world’s taxpayers spent, on average, $1.3 trillion on such projects each year, according to the nonprofit advisory group Climate Policy Initiative.

That’s more than double the spending rate in 2019 and 2020, which came in at $653 billion per year, and it’s significantly up from the $364 billion per year in 2011 and 2012, the report found.

Despite the money pouring in, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) reported that 2023 was the hottest year on record.

NOAA’s climate monitoring stations found that the Earth’s average land and ocean surface temperature in 2023 was 1.35 degrees Celsius above the pre-industrial average.
“Not only was 2023 the warmest year in NOAA’s 174-year climate record—it was the warmest by far,” said Sarah Kapnick, NOAA’s chief scientist.

“A warming planet means we need to be prepared for the impacts of climate change that are happening here and now, like extreme weather events that become both more frequent and severe.”

But a growing chorus of climate scientists are saying the temperature readings are faulty and that the trillions of dollars pouring in are based on a problem that doesn’t exist.

More than 90 percent of NOAA’s temperature monitoring stations have a heat bias, according to Anthony Watts, a meteorologist, senior fellow for environment and climate at The Heartland Institute, author of climate website Watts Up With That, and director of a study that examined NOAA’s climate stations.

“And with that large of a number, over 90 percent, the methods that NOAA employs to try to reduce this don’t work because the bias is so overwhelming,” Mr. Watts told The Epoch Times.

“The few stations that are left that are not biased because they are, for example, outside of town in a field and are an agricultural research station that’s been around for 100 years … their data gets completely swamped by the much larger set of biased data. There’s no way you can adjust that out.”

Meteorologist Roy Spencer agreed.

“The surface thermometer data still have spurious warming effects due to the urban heat island, which increases over time,” Mr. Spencer said.

He is the principal research scientist at the University of Alabama, the U.S. Science Team leader for the Advanced Microwave Scanning Radiometer on NASA’s Aqua satellite, and the recipient of NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for his work with satellite-based temperature monitoring.

Mr. Spencer also said computerized climate models used to drive changes in energy policy are even more faulty.

Lt. Col. John Shewchuk, a certified consulting meteorologist, said the problems with temperature readings go beyond heat bias. The retired lieutenant colonel was an advanced weather officer in the Air Force.

“After seeing many reports about NOAA’s adjustments to the USHCN [U.S. Historical Climatology Network] temperature data, I decided to download and analyze the data myself,” Lt. Col. Shewchuk told The Epoch Times.

“I was able to confirm what others have found. It is obvious that, overall, the past temperatures were cooled while the present temperatures were warmed.”

He contends that NOAA and NASA have adjusted historical temperature data in such a way as to make the past appear colder and, by so doing, make the current warming trend more pronounced.

Faulty Temperature Readings

The urban heat island effect causes higher temperatures in areas where there are more buildings, roads, and other forms of infrastructure that absorb and then radiate the sun’s heat, according to the Environmental Protection Agency.

The agency estimates that “daytime temperatures in urban areas are 1–7 degrees Fahrenheit higher than temperatures in outlying areas, and nighttime temperatures are about 2–5 degrees Fahrenheit higher.”

Consequently, NOAA requires all its climate observation stations to be located at least 100 feet away from elements such as concrete, asphalt, and buildings.

However, in March 2009, Mr. Watts released a report that shows that 89 percent of NOAA’s stations had heat bias issues due to being located within 100 feet of those elements, and many were located by airport runways.

“We found stations located next to the exhaust fans of air conditioning units, surrounded by asphalt parking lots and roads, on blistering-hot rooftops, and near sidewalks and buildings that absorb and radiate heat,” Mr. Watts said.

“We found 68 stations located at wastewater treatment plants, where the process of waste digestion causes temperatures to be higher than in surrounding areas.”

The report concluded that the U.S. temperature record was unreliable, and because it was considered “the best in the world,” global temperature databases were also “compromised and unreliable.”

Following the report, the U.S. Office of Inspector General (OIG) and the Government Accountability Office confirmed Mr. Watt’s findings and stated that NOAA was taking steps to address the issues.
“NOAA acknowledges that there are problems with the USHCN data due to biases introduced by such means as undocumented site relocation, poor siting, or instrument changes,” the OIG report reads.

“All of the experts thought that an improved, modernized climate reporting system is necessary to eliminate the need for data adjustments.”

Despite the assurances, Mr. Watts had doubts about NOAA addressing the issues and in April 2022 and May 2022, he and his team revisited many of the same temperature stations they had observed in 2009.

He published his findings in a new study on July 27, 2022. It found that even more, approximately 96 percent, of NOAA’s temperature stations still failed to meet its own standards.

“There are two main biases in the surface temperature network for the United States, and most likely the world, that I have identified,” Mr. Watts said.

“The biggest bias is the urban heat island effect. What happens is that because heat is retained by the surfaces and released into the air at night, the night’s low temperature is not as low as it could be if the thermometer were outside of town and in a field.”

Global average surface temperatures have been variable, but show an increasing trend in recent decades. (Illustration by The Epoch Times)

Over the years, he said, more and more infrastructure has been built up around the thermometer locations, and at night, the asphalt and concrete release the absorbed heat and push up the temperature.

“You can look at any set of climate data, no matter who produces it, and you can see this effect. The low temperatures are trending upward much faster, and the high temperatures are virtually unchanged. But it’s the average temperature that’s being used to track climate change,” Mr. Watts said.

He said that even though both NOAA and NASA claim that they can adjust their data to account for the urban heat island effect, the bias is impossible to overcome because the problem impacts 96 percent of surface stations.

He said the few thermometers located at climate stations not experiencing a heat bias show half the rate of warming currently being reported.

Transient Temperature

The second primary bias that Mr. Watts identified is the transient temperature readings, which are short-term temperature changes that can give a false reading.

NOAA started switching out their mercury thermometers in the mid-to-late 1980s, according to Mr. Watts.

The majority of its network now consists of electronic thermometers that can measure temperature within seconds.

“But they’re only recording the high and the low temperature of the day, and these can be biased by simple effects of wind,” he said.

“For example, you can have one of these temperature sensors placed near a parking lot, which happens to be to the east of the thermometer. And the wind has been predominantly from the south all through the day. But then, all of a sudden, you get a wind shift, and the wind shift could be caused by a number of different things. It could be caused by a change in the weather patterns. It could be caused by something blocking the wind from the south, like a semi-truck pulling up nearby.

“So you get wind shifting out of the east suddenly, coming across the parking lot, and picking up that radiant heat. And the thermometer will respond to that in the space of a second or two. And it will report a high temperature from that wind gust that does not necessarily represent the weather that day. It’s an anomaly. And the same thing can happen at night.”

Mr. Watts said transient temperature is such a well-known problem that the Met Office in the UK and the Australian Bureau of Meteorology have abandoned their high-tech network and are retooling to get more accurate readings.

“These are the problems that NOAA has not really fully addressed,” he said. “The folks who do the climate data never leave the office, and they don’t administer these stations. They [the stations] are left to the National Weather Service field offices—and the National Weather Service field offices are understaffed.

“Some stations, like out here in the West, are hundreds of miles away or more from the National Weather Service office, so they can’t get out there and do maintenance regularly. And when the National Weather Service went to modernization in the early 1990s, they closed many Weather Service offices around the country.

“And so, the maintenance on these thermometers—and a lot of these monitors are run by the public, a lot are volunteers—has fallen off. I’ve had volunteers, when I go visit, ask me if I can get the Weather Service to come out and fix something. But they can’t, because the problem is, they don’t have the budget.

“The bottom line is that the Cooperative Observer Network, the COOP network—it’s literally a ragtag bunch of volunteers combined with some public agencies, such as police stations, fire stations, forest service, and so on.

“This is not a rigorously scientifically controlled network at the operational level.”

NOAA itself stated on its website that its temperature readings aren’t precise and that the agency adds a margin of error to its temperatures.
Neither NOAA nor NASA responded by press time to The Epoch Times’ request for comment regarding transient temperature anomalies or Mr. Watts’s claim that adjusting for a heat bias is impossible.

Adjusting Temperature Readings

NOAA has also been adjusting historical temperature data.

“Normally, when correcting data errors, you would expect a more random result in the data adjustments—both up and down—but the results instead show a systematic process of cooling the past and warming the present,” Lt. Col. Shewchuk said.
An example is Iceland’s Reykjavik station.

The February 1936 record for the Reykjavik station showed a mean temperature of minus 0.2 degrees Celsius for the month and an annual mean temperature of 5.78 degrees Celsius, according to the Goddard Institute for Space Studies Surface Temperature Analysis (GISTEMP). The original GISTEMP monthly data was known as v2, or version 2.

EPA data shows an increasing ratio of daily record high-to-low temperatures in order to indicate rising global temperatures (Illustration by The Epoch Times).
EPA data shows an increasing ratio of daily record high-to-low temperatures in order to indicate rising global temperatures (Illustration by The Epoch Times).
In 2019, NOAA released an updated version of its software, GISTEMP v4.
It shows Reykjavik station’s mean temperature for February 1936 as minus 1.02 degrees Celsius, and the annual mean temperature as 5.01 degrees Celsius. That’s a downward adjustment of 0.82 degrees Celsius for the month and 0.77 degrees Celsius for the year after the software update.
When comparing the GISTEMP v2 monthly data against the v4 monthly data, an overall cooling of the past is observed.

“Incredibly, the range of data adjustments exceeds 2 degrees Fahrenheit, which is significant with respect to current temperature trends,” Lt. Col. Shewchuk said.

“NOAA also employs a very unusual follow-on data adjustment process, where they periodically go back and re-adjust the previously adjusted data. This makes it difficult to find ground truth, which seems more like shifting sands.”

In response to The Epoch Times’ request for comment about the adjustments to historical data, NOAA’s public affairs officer, John Bateman, said he reached out to one of NOAA’s National Centers for Environmental Information (NCEI) climate experts, who responded: “NCEI applies corrections to account for historical changes in station location, temperature instrumentation, observing practice, and, to a lesser extent, siting conditions. Our approaches are documented in the peer-reviewed literature. At the national scale, the corrected data are in good agreement with the U.S. Climate Reference Network (USCRN), which has pristine siting conditions.”

NASA didn’t respond to The Epoch Times’ request for comment about adjustments to historical data.

Satellite Readings

To get a more accurate reading of the Earth’s fluctuating surface temperatures, Mr. Spencer and climatologist John Christy developed a global temperature data set from microwave data observed from satellites.

Mr. Christy is a professor of atmospheric science at the University of Alabama in Huntsville and director of the Earth System Science Center, who, along with Mr. Spencer, received NASA’s Exceptional Scientific Achievement Medal for his work with satellite-based temperature monitoring.

They started their project in 1989 and analyzed data going back to 1979.

According to satellite data, since 1979, the Earth’s temperature has been increasing at a steady rate of 0.14 degrees Celsius every 10 years.

And while 2023 was the hottest year on record due to linear warming trends, they say it’s not a cause for public panic.

“Yes, it appears 2023 was the warmest in the last 100 years or so. But numbers matter. The magnitude isn’t large enough for anyone to feel,” Mr. Spencer said.

“Besides, a single year is weather, not climate. What matters is the long-term trend, say many decades.”

He said the 2023 data, added to the 45 years of data since 1979, doesn’t alter the overall trend of 0.14 degrees Celsius increase every 10 years

“I believe both satellites and thermometers show a warming trend, especially since the 1970s,” Mr. Spencer said.

“But the strength of that trend is considerably less than what climate models predict, and it is those models which are used to argue for changes in energy policy and CO2 emissions reduction.”

Lt. Col. Shewchuk agreed that satellite-based temperature data is more precise, and it shows a much smaller warming trend than NOAA’s surface-based warming trend.
“The satellite data are a better measure of global temperature change because [they] do not suffer from conventional surface temperature station location problems or the numerous forms of NOAA data editing activities,”  he said.
Satellite readings are also “routinely calibrated to radiosonde (weather balloon) data, which are the gold standard for atmospheric data.”
Mr. Spencer published a report on Jan. 24 that addresses inaccuracies in climate modeling.
“Warming of the global climate system over the past half-century has averaged 43 percent less than that produced by computerized climate models used to promote changes in energy policy,” the report reads.
“Contrary to media reports and environmental organizations’ press releases, global warming offers no justification for carbon-based regulation.”
Mr. Spencer said the public has been led to believe that modeling is “fairly accurate,” but a number of additional variables have been added to the modeling that result in higher temperature estimates.
“Current claims of a climate crisis are invariably the result of reliance on the models producing the most warming, not on actual observations of the climate system which reveal unremarkable changes over the past century or more,” he wrote.

NASA Props Up Ground Readings

NASA claims on its website that ground thermometers are more accurate than satellite measurements.

“While satellites provide valuable information about Earth’s temperature, ground thermometers are considered more reliable because they directly measure the temperature where people reside,” NASA stated.

“Satellite data require complex processing and modeling to convert brightness measurements into temperature readings, making ground thermometers a more direct and accurate source of temperature information for us.”

Mr. Spencer quickly pointed out the flaws in NASA’s claim.

“Surface thermometers only cover a tiny fraction of the Earth, whereas the satellites provide nearly complete global coverage,” he said.

“NASA’s complaint that the 16 separate satellites must be pieced together ‘like a jigsaw puzzle’ is ironic since the surface temperature record is pieced together from hundreds (if not thousands) of stations, with almost none of them, anywhere, providing a continuous, uninterrupted record unaffected by increasing urban heat island effects.

“Finally, the complaint is that satellites only measure the deep atmosphere, not the surface where people live. … Well, if that is so, why are deep ocean temperatures touted as being so valuable for climate research? All of these measurements are important in their own right, and each system has its strengths and weaknesses. Our satellite dataset is widely used by climate researchers around the world.”

As to NASA’s critique that satellites don’t directly measure temperature but instead the brightness of Earth’s atmosphere, making them inaccurate, Mr. Spencer said: “Strictly speaking, that is true. But surface thermometers are electronic, so (technically) they measure electrical resistance.

“The satellites are calibrated with the highest quality, laboratory-standard platinum resistance thermometers. If NASA is going to fault remotely-sensed satellite data, they might as well shut down their myriad Earth satellite programs, which have the same (supposed) ‘defect.’”

Lt. Col. Shewchuk called NASA’s claim that satellite data is inferior to surface temperature readings “nonsense.”

“UAH satellite data is the only data source that is truly global in nature. It effectively measures the temperature of earth’s entire atmosphere, and especially the lower troposphere—where our weather is actually created,” he said.

“The only limitation is that the satellite data only begins in 1979.”

Mr. Watts said that when he looked at data from ground surface stations in grassy fields (absent an urban heat island effect), the temperature readings closely matched Mr. Spencer’s satellite data.

When asked why NOAA isn’t only using thermometers where there’s no possibility for an urban heat island effect, Mr. Spencer said: “I think their goal is not to get the most accurate long-term temperature record but to use as much thermometer data as they can get their hands on. This is good to build a congressionally-funded program and keep people employed.”

The current amount of money, $1.3 trillion annually, being spent on climate initiatives is nowhere near enough, according to the Climate Policy Initiative.

“In the average scenario, the annual climate finance needed through 2030 increases steadily from $8.1 to $9 trillion. Then, estimated needs jump to over $10 trillion each year from 2031 to 2050,” the group stated.

“This means that climate finance must increase by at least five-fold annually, as quickly as possible, to avoid the worst impacts of climate change.”

The organization lists its funders on its website, including the Rockefeller Foundation, WWF, and Bloomberg Philanthropies. Its partners include BlackRock, two U.N. climate groups, several large global banks, and government groups such as the Global Covenant of Mayors for Climate and Energy.

Meditation and Fasting As a Spiritual Practice

We live in a inseparable physical and metaphysical worlds. As we have learned in the past three years, the world was not as it seemed. Regardless of our differences or beliefs, we are all spiritual beings living in a material world to learn and evolve spiritual. We are all challenged daily, from interacting with others to just one of those really not so good days. What we fail to consider how our thoughts, emotions and actions affect not onlyBeing, Be, Am, Spirit, Spiritual, Soul ourselves, but those around us and even the world. All those interactions generate energy, positive and negative, affecting us, those around us and even the world. We have and are at this moment designing and creating our world.

Free Spirituality Spiral vector and pictureMeditation is a spiritual practice along with fasting, that can expand a person perspective and help shape your idea of the physical and metaphysical worlds. Meditation is a natural relaxation state of the mind. While many  hear the word “fast” and panic, it truly is spiritual practice to test your will and desire, only if practice intermittently.  There are many different fasting methods and most people are able engage 24 to 72 hour period with either a water or juice fast.  Others may like the intermitting fasting, blocking a daily time to eat, normally   a 6-8 hours period, i.e. 10AM to 5Pm. Eat only during those hours and fast until the next day. Fasting has been used therapeutically since at least the 5th century BCE, when Greek physician Hippocrates recommended abstinence from food or drink for patients who exhibited certain symptoms of illness. Do what works for you and in time, you  will realize the tremendous benefits.

The proper way to meditate is just start. You will develop a practice over time but start with what works for you. Sitting in a chair or floor with good posture, close your eyes, take 5–10 slow deep breaths, following yourFree Yin Yang vector and picture breath. Your relaxing your mind so try not to think of anything. Just focus on a point in the front of eyes. You will find your thoughts drifting to the interactions of the day, just bring the focus back to the point in front of the eyes. The time you meditate is up to you.

Meditation and Fasting are spiritual practices between you and the Divine, expanding and shaping your conception of a world that’s changing before our eyes. There is no better time than to discover your true-self.

New Science, Multiple Reports: COVID-19 Vaccine Causes Lung Blockages

BY JENNIFER MARGULIS AND JOE WANG TIMEAUGUST 10, 2022

A team of doctors has alerted the medical world to the danger of artery blockage from COVID vaccination with a new case report, published on August 5, 2022 in the Cureus Journal of Medical Science.

The case report describes how their patient, 67 years old, started to feel short of breath two days after getting the second dose of the Pfizer vaccine against COVID-19. Then, while doing some yard work, he could not catch his breath, even after resting for half an hour. So he went to the emergency room.

A cardiologist was called in, and the patient was admitted to the hospital. Given how bad his test results were, the doctors speculated that he would have had “dismal outcome if urgent treatment had not been initiated.”

In other words, if he had not gone to the ER to receive immediate treatment, he likely would have died.

Pulmonary Embolism Post Vaccination

A CT scan further showed the doctors that the patient had a pulmonary embolism. A pulmonary embolism is a significant blood clot in a major artery leading from the heart to the lungs, cutting off blood flow. His kidneys were also acutely affected by the embolism.

Symptoms of a pulmonary embolism range from shortness of breath, to an abnormally high heart rate (tachycardia), leg swelling (like the patient in this case study had), to sudden death.

This patient was also found to have another clot, a deep vein thrombosis, in his calf. It was this clot that was causing his leg to swell.

Catheter Surgery

The doctors acted quickly to give him blood thinners and prepare him for catheter surgery. They snaked a catheter through his neck into his heart in order to remove the clot.

A few days in the hospital following his surgery, the patient seemed to have fully recovered.

Since this 67-year-old man had no risk factors or previous history of thrombosis, and he had recently had a Pfizer vaccine, the medical team suspected vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia.

Minnesota Dentist Suffers Vaccine-Induced Pulmonary Embolism

As a health care provider, Doug Trebtoske felt he had to set a good example by getting all the recommended COVID-19 vaccines.

Trebtoske, a dentist based in Rochester, Minnesota, told The Epoch Times that, while he did not force his employees to get vaccinated, he “blindly accepted the CDC position on vaccination.”

He was keen on the vaccination because a relative by marriage, who, like Trebtoske, was 68 years old and in good health, died from COVID-19 a month before the vaccines became available.

But after the third Pfizer vaccination, which he received in September 2021, Trebtoske developed a bad cough. He went to urgent care 30 days after this third vaccination because he was experiencing severe rib pain. “The pain was unreal, like someone was sticking a knife in my chest,” he said.

The doctors were not sure what was wrong with him but in early November he was hospitalized with a pulmonary embolism and two broken ribs. He has been hospitalized twice since then, and undergone two rib surgeries.

Trebtoske and his general practitioner both believe that the pulmonary embolism was vaccine induced thrombosis thrombocytopenia from the third dose of the Pfizer vaccine.

Vaccine-induced Immune Thrombotic Thrombocytopenia

When someone has vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia, or VITT, they usually present with blood clots in a vein or an artery (which can cause swelling in one leg, chest pain, or body numbness) as well as with a low platelet count in the blood, according to the American College of Cardiology.

Both thrombosis and thrombocytopenia can be life-threatening.

Dr. Kenji Yamamoto, a cardiovascular surgeon who works at Okamura Memorial Hospital in Shizuoka, Japan, has recorded a significant rise in vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia since COVID-19 vaccination began. Because of the dangers of VITT, Yamamoto believes that the vaccination booster program should be halted.

“The media have so far concealed the adverse events of vaccine administration, such as vaccine-induced immune thrombotic thrombocytopenia (VITT), owing to biased propaganda,” Yamamoto wrote in a letter published in the journal Virology on June 5, 2022.

Post Vaccination Blood Disorders in Previously Healthy Individuals

Soon after the roll-out of the COVID-19 vaccines in Europe, hematologists “began observing previously healthy young individuals present with severe, extensive thrombosis,” according to an article in the journal Blood. “Unlike most cases of thrombosis, there was associated thrombocytopenia, and no predisposing thrombotic risk factors.”

These cases were thought to be linked mainly to the AstraZeneca vaccine, which was widely available in Europe but not in the United States.

Over 70 percent of the young people who got VITT, the onset of which was usually between five and 30 days after SARS-CoV-2 vaccination, died.

More than a dozen other peer-reviewed scientific articles have also discussed this vaccine side effect, with doctors recommending protocols to diagnose VITT, as well as publishing case reports from ThailandIndia, and several other countries.

Five months after the AstraZeneca vaccine was first made available, at least 242 clotting cases and 49 vaccine deaths in younger healthy adults had been reported in the United Kingdom, according to the BBC.

In May 2021, the United Kingdom began recommending that adults between the ages of 18 and 39 be offered an alternative to the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Then, in October 2021, the New England Journal of Medicine published a study of some 220 cases in the United Kingdom of thrombosis that were found to be vaccine-induced.

These patients developed clots mostly in their lungs (the pulmonary arteries) and their legs, as the Pfizer patient had.

Although VITT had been seen most often following administration of the AstraZeneca and Johnson & Johnson vaccinesother reports have found vaccine-associated thrombosis following Moderna and Pfizer vaccination as well.

For some people, vaccination induces a “prothrombotic state” in which the blood levels of the blood’s clotting cells are disrupted, raising the likelihood of clots forming in the blood vessels.

As the authors of the current case study point out, there were other early warning articles in the scientific literature. A team of six Austrian doctors also published about thrombosis following COVID-19 vaccination in the New England Journal of Medicine, as did a team of Norwegian doctors.

In November 2021, an analysis in the journal Vaccines showed that in just four months in 2021, there were 729,496 adverse events, of which 3,420 were thrombotic; 63 of those affected died: six had had a Moderna vaccine, 25 a Pfizer vaccine, and 32 the Oxford-AstraZeneca vaccine.

Denying the Connection

Several doctors at the Mayo Clinic, however, have told Doug Trebtoske, the dentist from Minnesota, that there is no connection between the lung problems he has had and the COVID-19 vaccines. Instead, he said, they diagnosed him with “pulmonary embolism of undetermined origin.”

It’s been nine months since he got his third Pfizer vaccine. Trebtoske is still unwell; he can no longer work. He had to sell his dental practice and he isn’t able to dance anymore. He’s considering yet another major surgery to fix a persistent problem with his ribs that was caused by the pulmonary embolism.

What’s more, he’s tested positive for COVID-19 twice despite having had three vaccines.

If he had to do it again, he’s not sure he would make the same vaccine choices.

“I probably would have been better off not to have gotten the vaccinations, personally,” he said. “I feel my body over-reacts to the vaccine, and that’s why I got the blood clots. My family physician feels the same way.”

Top Causes of Death in US During COVID-19 Pandemic

BY DR. YUHONG DONG AND HEALTH 1+1 AUGUST 10, 2022

A study recently published by the Journal of the American Medical Association indicates that there were two leading causes of death during the COVID-19 pandemic, but neither of them was COVID-19. Rather, they were heart disease and cancer.

The research paper showed the major causes of death in the United States from March 2020 to October 2021. According to the article, 20.1 percent of deaths were due to heart disease, and 17.5 percent were caused by cancer. The third leading cause of death during this time was COVID-19, accounting for 12.2 percent of all deaths.

Epoch Times Photo

Cardiovascular disease had always been a leading cause of death, yet the number of heart disease-related deaths during the pandemic has seen an unusual change.

According to the National Center for Health Statistics (NCHS), the number (pdf) of heart disease deaths before 2020 in the United States had been steadily decreasing on an annual basis. This is likely due to an increase in people’s awareness of heart disease, and technological advancements in the medical field, both of which have likely contributed to more preventive measures being taken against heart disease and an enhanced response mechanism to sudden heart attacks.

However, the number of heart disease deaths started to rise again in 2020. For every 100,000 people, 161.5 died of heart disease in 2019. In 2020, this number increased to 168.2.

COVID-19 Infections Are Related to the Increased Mortality Rate in Heart Disease Patients

The number of heart disease complications in critically ill COVID-19 patients are much larger than average.

A 2020 article published in the British Medical Journal analyzed 5,019 COVID-19 critically ill patients in the intensive care units of 68 hospitals across the United States, and found that 14 percent of them had cardiac arrest, and only 12 percent of those survived the cardiac arrest after receiving CPR.

Epoch Times Photo

The number of cardiac arrest cases outside of the hospital also saw a significant increase. Many who contracted COVID-19 and experienced cardiac arrest at home passed away before the ambulance arrived. Data provided by the Houston Fire Department, for example, showed just this. Forensic data confirm that the increase in such deaths is directly linked to SARS-CoV-2 infection.

Epoch Times Photo

Similar situations have also occurred in other countries and regions.

An Italian study published in The New England Journal of Medicine found that after the COVID-19 pandemic started in Europe in 2020, the number of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases increased significantly, by 58 percent compared to 2019. In addition, the number of COVID-19 infections was found to be directly positively correlated to the number of out-of-hospital cardiac arrest cases. Also, 77 percent of all patients who died from out-of-hospital cardiac arrest were suspected of or confirmed having contracted the SARS-CoV-2 virus.

Epoch Times Photo

A 2020 large-scale cohort study from Paris published in The Lancet Public Health showed that since March 2020, when the pandemic started spreading rapidly, the number people who died of an out-of-hospital cardiac arrest in Paris had increased dramatically, essentially doubling the number before the pandemic (looking at the same weeks in 2019).

Epoch Times Photo

COVID-19 is widely regarded as a virus that affects the respiratory tract, so why have so many patients passed away due to heart disease? The reasons are as follows:

  • The SARS-COV-2 virus can directly damage cardiac cells, causing damage to cardiac vessels and carditis;
    The impact of lung infection on blood circulation burdens the heart;
  • The virus can cause an aggressive inflammatory response known as a “cytokine storm.” And inflammatory factors can severely impact the cardiovascular system and vital organs;
  • The pandemic has altered people’s lifestyles. Being forced to stay at home and the lack of exercise both could cause a decline in their general health, which made them more prone to heart disease.

An article published in the Indian Heart Journal listed several leading causes of sudden cardiac death due to COVID-19 infection. The leading causes were acute myocarditis and pericarditis; followed by acute coronary syndrome and hypoxia; there were also coagulopathy, systemic inflammatory responses, and arrhythmia.

Myocarditis and Pericarditis Cases Increased Significantly After Administration of COVID-19 Vaccines

In addition to COVID-19 infections, the administration of COVID-19 vaccines has also increased the risk of heart disease. A study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (JAMA) in August 2021, by using data collected from more than 40 American medical institutions, shows that the number of myocarditis and pericarditis cases increased sharply after around 2 million people received the COVID-19 vaccines in the United States.

The median onset of myocarditis is around 3.5 days after vaccination, and there is a strong correlation between the time of onset and the time of vaccination. Among the myocarditis patients, 80 percent developed the symptoms after the second dose, 75 percent were male, and their median age was 36 years old.

Epoch Times Photo

The median onset of pericarditis in patients is 20 days after receiving the COVID-19 vaccines; and in 60 percent of the cases, the onset of symptoms took place after the second dose. Among these patients, 73 percent were male, and their median age was 59 years old.

Epoch Times Photo

As a result, three countries in Europe suspended the use of the Moderna vaccines for young men at that time.

Is the Second Leading Cause of Death Possibly Related to the COVID-19 Pandemic?

The second leading cause of death during the first year of the pandemic was cancer. This, however, differs from heart disease, as the number of cancer patients did not have any abnormal fluctuations in terms of data trends during the pandemic.

Nevertheless, COVID-19 infections did have an impact on cancer patients during this time period.

This is because a COVID-19 infection can cause chronic inflammation, and the inflammatory factors can directly or indirectly inhibit the functions of immune cells. The spike proteins of the SARS-CoV-2 virus can also inhibit mitochondrial functions and suppress the cells’ DNA repair mechanisms. The aforementioned effects can all cause the degeneration of the immune cell functions, further aggravating the cancer patients’ conditions and causing their tumors to worsen and spread.

Also, the prolonged lockdowns during the pandemic could lead to or increase the levels of anxiety and depression, which could both inhibit the immune cells’ ability to surveil and suppress tumors.

In addition, since hospitalization rates rose sharply due to the COVID-19 pandemic, many cancer screening, surgery, and chemotherapy appointments have been postponed. A review in The Lancet Public Health comprehensively discussed the consequences of postponing cancer-related appointments. Early screening and diagnosis of cancers (such as colon, breast, prostate, and cervical cancers, as well as melanoma) have a large impact on patient survival. For instance, for each 4-week delay in treatment for colon cancer, the risk of death increases by 6 percent; while a similar delay in adjuvant chemotherapy for colorectal cancer increases the risk of death by 13 percent.

As of May 9, 2021, Australia had attributed the deaths of 7,509 cancer patients to the pandemic.

A Way to Reduce Mortality Rates of Heart Disease and Cancer

How can one reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer?

Since the onset of the pandemic, people have been under a lot of pressure, stress, and anxiety, which affects their immunity. Furthermore, being prone to anxiety puts one at further risk for heart disease.

In the movie Kung Fu Panda, the term “inner peace” is repeatedly mentioned. Recently, more and more studies have found that “inner peace” is closely related to one’s health.

In 2016, researchers from the University of Connecticut and University of Oregon jointly published a study in the journal Health Psychology to explore the association between a state of spiritual peace and the survival rate of patients with congestive heart failure (CHF).

Congestive heart failure is a very common chronic disease in the United States, affecting more than 5 million people. Factors such as smoking, poor diets, alcohol consumption, depression, and a lack of social support are all associated with the increased risk of death in patients with congestive heart failure.

The study followed 191 patients with congestive heart failure for five years. One of the items assessed the subjects’ state of spiritual peace and harmony, asking them to rate their own state and frequency of spiritual peace from “never or almost never to some days” to “most days or many times a day.”

The results showed that a state of spiritual peace could be an important predictor of mortality. During the five-year follow up, people who felt peace of mind regularly had a very low or close to zero risk of death, while those who experienced little or no peace of mind had a 25 percent mortality rate.

Even after taking other factors into consideration, spiritual peace still played a role in reducing mortality rate.

Epoch Times Photo

A state of spiritual peace also has a positive effect on cancer patients. Another study has discovered that life meaning and peace was negatively associated with anxiety, and positively associated with physical well-being.  For cancer survivors that suffer from a high level of anxiety, their physical health would improve significantly when they had a higher level of inner peace and meaning of life.

However, for people who don’t feel anxious, their health is usually already much better than people who suffer from anxiety. Therefore, after becoming even more calm, their physical condition doesn’t show any obvious changes.

A lot of people might ask, “How can I have spiritual peace?”

If we pay more attention to our spiritual pursuits, and less to our materialistic pursuits, and remind ourselves to remain calm when facing conflicts, then it will be easier for us to obtain inner peace. For materialistic people who can’t let go of their emotions and love to pick a fight in the face of conflicts, it will be quite difficult to reach inner peace.

There is another term to describe a state of spiritual peace, namely spirituality, and this is usually used to represent a divine feeling or a “holy” state of mind. In medical research, spirituality is more commonly used to describe inner peace and a feeling of meaningfulness in life. This is a state of mind that takes spiritual cultivation, and it requires continuous restraint and effort to achieve.

So our attitude decides our fate. Reducing the number of fights with others and achieving more inner peace, our hearts will be thankful to us, and we will be rewarded with a longer, healthier life.
